pissed to the 10 th power. Primary doc forcing me to choose her choice of surgeon

I have a question, why don't you look up the doctors your doctors and see if you can click with any of them.  I beleive that yes you should be able to if possible pick your doctor but if you went to your doctor for a referral why would you not look into the doctors she has a list of, you don't even know them, research and you may like what you find.  Also if you need your doctor to help you allow her to help you, don't set yourself back just because you didnt get to go another way.  I may be wrong but I wouldn't discount her names and I don't have any information on them.

She should not bow to this...because it is illegal for her Dr to insist on HER list. ESP if she researched Drs like a responsible pt and the Dr che chose is on her HMO list.  It is called a conflict of interest if she is inisting. She prob gets a kickback or something. I would report this Dr in a heartbeat and THEN find a new Primary. Allowing Drs to push us around is wrong and we need to learn to stand up for what is right. And she is wrong.

I had the opposite problem, my Dr suggested the surgeon I wanted and the insurance said no you have to have this guy....I had one choice and it was an out of town Dr I had never heard of and a hospital I was not familiar with.  I had no choice.

I found out that because I am a member of a center or group they can deny me a referral to a specialist not in the group. I guess it's kinda like keeping the money in the family kinda thing.Lukily there is a solution .....leave the group . So I am leaving the group  coverage thing, which sucks anyway and looking for a new internist that is private that accepts my coverage. This is the only way to get a referral to MYchoice of surgeon and hospital. I just hope that all this can be done in time, so I wont have to reschedual my appt with the surgeon, Gonna take a miracle.
