How many carbs and sugars are allowed in a day?
I know that I should have only 800 calories and at least 65 grams of protein a day. However, I am unsure as to how many carbs and sugars are allowed in a day. I can't seem to find this information.in any of the literature from my dr's office or any of the meetings or anything. Does anyone else know?
I know my doc gave me a guide line to follow after surgery but it dont always work that way. I try and do 60 grams of protein daily and carbs i just keep at a low, i never was good at counting calories and so forth but you might want to call your doc's office and ask them what are the guide lines to follow as far as carbs and sugar. My surgeon suggest keeping my daily carb intake around 40 a day but thats so hard to do, there are carbs in everything i eat, i just make sure to get full off protein first and there's really not enough room to have the carbs.
Good luck to you

Carbs are under 40 G a day for me too. Sugar was not actually specified, but I was told to avoid it as much as possible, which I do. I use the SF Torini Syrups for everything. SF Jam, SF Jello and pudding. Splenda. It's pretty easy to substitute, which I tended to do before anyway. I don't eat bread or rice, pasta or white potatoes - things like that. I do have sandwich thins, but I rarely eat those. For meals, it should always be protein first, then veggie and then a carb if room - which there rarely is :)
