I think you were on the right track....

I mix:

1 c. unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 c. plain greek yogurt
3 or 4 slices of frozen strawberry (from walmart, big bag is $7)
1/2 scoop vanilla gnc protein powder (any more, and I can't drink it due to the whey taste)
Splenda with Added Fiber to taste - I use a generous tablespoon.

Blend

This will give you about 36 grams of protein as well.  Leave out the half scoop of protein powder, it still has 26 grams!  I drink it from a cup with a lid/straw, it makes it easier to handle the protein smell/taste.

I buy different frozen fruits and since we are only using a tiny amount they really last.  I especially like the above shake, but I sometimes use blueberries and raspberries.

I have also mixed the almond milk with half a pack of carnation instant breakfast no sugar added, and 1/2 greek yogurt.  Was thick and creamy and like a chocolate milkshake.

make mine about the same way, but use about 1/4 cup vnilla almond milk, 6 oz Greeek yogurt, a scoop of protein poder and 1/3 of a cup of frozen fruit plus 1/4 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract, and 1 scoop vanilla protein powder.--sweeten to taste.

It's REALLY good if you use the almond extract and frozen peaches
I eat half and put the rest in the freezer  for a while, then blender it again.
