I feel pretty sure that my insurance will not cover me (maybe it is just expecting the worst so I won't be disapointed) but I am preparing myself for Dr. Alvarez. I know he will give me all the facts after I pay my deposit..but just for my own curiosity, does he do the one or two week liquid diet prior to surgery?? thanks

How many weeks depends on your weight (and maybe other factors).  I had 1 week full liquids.

I just had surgery 5/28 with him and my surgeon from Houston. When I got into the van with 3 of his patients they all stated they were not put on pre op diet...I was from my surgeon for 1 week. GOOD LUCK. Your going to love Dr. A and his crew ...so great

I spoke with Susan and got all the general information.  I told her my height 5'3 and weight  250.  So we discussed a lot of stuff and she said she would call me back.  She did very promptly after we finished the medical page thingy and I have to be on a 2 wk full liquids.  So it will be different for everyone.

I think even if I were told no, I would any way just to shrink the intestines and stomach and liver as much as possible.  Ive started watching my food intake Id like to lose some before I go Just makes the surgery that much easier. Hell I have  hard as hell time getting up and down off the bed dont wanna be like that after surgery :)

Good luck with your ins:)

In the email Susan sent me to tell I was approved for surgery she said I'd have to do a mandatory 7 day liquid diet per Dr Alvarez. Im sure that once I schedule surgery I'll find out what I can and can't have. I have a bmi of 37.
