Rice and the sleeve...

Ya Dec that was what I was gonna say.  If any thing do brown rice but not white.  Do you really wanna wake up that sugar monster? Thats what simple carbs do is turn into sugar you might as well eat a spoon full sugar.

I have a little bit of rice, usually brown rice which is a little more nutritious than white rice.  And I don't have much of it at all.  A couple of small bites over all.

Thanks for all your replies everyone.  Sometimes it seems I find better advice here than I do at my doc's.  I'm still afraid to eat food, and I was thinking more about consistency of food, rather than nutritional value.  I'll have to get over my fear of food, lol.  Never thought I'd be saying that.

I very rarely, but DO eat a bite or 2 brown rice. Contrary to what I have heard, if it is already cooked, it won't expand in your stomach. It will fill you up, so I eat my protein 1st. Doesn't leave much room but for a taste. I want to learn to eat like NORMAL people ate all their lives, and that includes rice, pasta. I just choose a brown variety and again, it isn't a staple part of my diet. I know for me, if I like something and I deny myself...I WILL fail. Cuz I will resent it and go for bad choices eventually. If I don't say NO as an absolute, I am ok. Cuz I use my tool as it was intended for me. And I listen to what it says to me. My triggers aren't the foods I eat...it is when I tell myself I can't have something. If I give myself permission...99% of the time I will say "eh", I don't need it. Does that make sense to anyone else?

I never ate through my losing stage. 1) No more room after protein was consumed for wasted calories 2) Too many carbs.

It is now a slider food for me so I have to be pretty diligent about not eating a lot of it. Brown rice still expands terribly in my sleeve, and causes cramping. White, steamed, or fried rice all work all too well. I eat maybe 2 times per month. I usually eat it with Thai or Japanese food, and mix enough broth/sauce to make it like of soupy so it doesn't give me issues.

I just make it a rule to avoid all white high carb foods (pasta, rice, bread, etc). It will stop the weight loss process dead in it's tracks and you will feel a great deal of pressure in your sleeve even if you eat very small portions of "the white stuff".

I have eaten tiny amounts of brown rice and quinoa.  I DO NOT make it a habit
because I am still in the weight loss phase.  my nut wants me to eat grains, fruit, protein, veggie.
yes a balanced meal. 

I do my own thing and totally into sprouting and herbs right now.  I also juice wheat grass and with my cold this week I was juicing oranges and tangerines.

Rice is on my list of white food - carbs and sugar. Living on white food got me into trouble and I'm not ready to tempt fate again. I'm afraid of what would happen if I started - could I stop? I feel so good to be detoxed from the stuff I really don't want to go there yet.
