Frustrated by bathroom issues (TMI)

I have had constant diarrhea since surgery, with bouts of it including intestinal cramping.  So doc took a stool sample for testing for infection.  Results apparently takes days and in the mean time he's sending me in to ER for fluids and possibly something for diarrhea.

This is frustrating and it has really taken a lot out of me.  My mood has been reduced to frustration and sadness.  Please send prayers or advice.  Thanks.

Liquids in, liquids out seems to be the norm for us for the first 1-2 weeks.  I hope you get to feeling better.

When you are on massive doses of antibiotics it can mess with the good gut bacteria.  Try taking some probiotics, which you can buy at any drug store, or if you can eat yogurt, try some of that.  Also, I will echo with previous poster; liquid in, liquid out.

Good luck!

Glad to send you prayers for comfort and support.  As for the advice... LIke others said, liquid in, liquid out. Keep up the hydration, this too will pass (forgive the pun).  As they say on OH - Never Trust a Fart.

I promise you - It gets way better and you generally won't have those problems anymore, instead you will have some bouts of constipation for that... regular fiber.  While you don't need it now, I recommend two large tablespoons of benefiber in your coffee every morning.

Hang in there!!  Keep hydrated it will end soon.

I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!!! It's really miserable. I had to go back in for fluids for the same reason. ugh. :( but it does get better!!!! This is what helped me...I tried greek yogurt (high in protein too) and also I found a box called Culturelle (at walgreens..yellow box). It is a probiotic. It made it much better after about two days. I also tried immodium for some relief..which lasted maybe a few hours. I was regretting my decision and wonderig WTH I did. But, Im about three weeks out now and felling great! I eat grits for breakfast and baked fish for lunch and dinner (tilapia with lemon pepper) and I'm feeling so much better. Hope you start feeling better soon!!! ((((HUGS))))

Just for some background, I was going every 20 minutes or so.  It started to get a little bloody and I have a rash on my side as well (noticed both those things after my post this AM).

Turns out I have a very dangerous infection.  I am waiting on antibiotics from the pharmacy and may be admitted back into the hospital if I can't stay hydrated.

Prayers, please!
