How fast can you drink after VSG?

I'm 2 days out and I am able to drink small sips at a time, but it is painful when it hits my stomach. I just take as small a sip as possible and cringe waiting on it to hit. Some people have said I need a PPI so I will call my dr. Monday if it's not any better by then. I've had about 45 oz. of liquids today counting all the supplements and water. The nurse told me that 48 oz. was the absolute minimum so I will squeeze in a few more before I go to bed.

I can't wait until I can drink a whole swallow at once and it not hurt.

22 days out and can get in 64 with no problem; just have to take it slow - tummy tells me when I'm going too fast. No nausea yet fortunately. Still learning each day. Let me know if I can help further.

Three months and I'm drinking fairly quickly.. I take two or three big sips at a time, every other min or faster.. I never pu**** though. 25oz goes in fairly fast and easy, but not early out! Every week it seems to flow through you faster. You shouldn't have any issues once you are a couple-3 mo out.. I get in about 100oz a day in 4 25oz servings.. without really thinking about it, kinda like I did before, just can't pound the entire water bottle though.

I'm seven weeks out and pretty much drinking as I did pre-op - always with a sports bottle, and no longer having to sip sip sip all the time, but a more normal swig (maybe an ounce at a time?) Liquids go right thru me, but that's a variable - my wife for a long time after her DS couldn't drink more than her nominal stomach size at a sitting. YMMV Hydration is also a big concern with me which is why I have been slow to get back to some of my dehydrating activities - so it's the indoor fishclub meeting today instead of the racetrack in 105F heat.

1st support group/seminar - 8/03 (has it been that long?)

I'm 6 days out. For the first 4 days or so, it would take about 10 mins to get down an ounce.

It has gotten MUCH easier as the swelling went down. As long as it's clear liquid (like broth or water) I can take 2-3 drinks in a row, and finish 4 ounces in only a few minutes.

I got down 64 ounces yesterday with no problem.

I think you'll do fine. My biggest issue with going too fast/drinking too much is that I feel pressure/discomfort. I stop right away (and space each swallow to 'test' before I drink more). LOL. I hate barfing.

Although you asked this question several years ago, I'm glad you asked it!  I'm 6 months out and was worried I might be stretching my stomach since I can drink a few cups of water in about 10 minutes many days.  From what I'm hearing, it's not an issue.
