I was wondering if when you were getting ready for your VSG did they put a tube up your nose into your stomach? I had that done when I had a blockage once. It was TERRIBLE pain. I hope they dont but if they do it will be worth it.

If they did, I don't remember it. My wife said that I might have issues in my nose and throat after surgery but fortunately I did not. Hope this helps and let me know if I can help.

I didn't before surgery, but I had a tube up my nose into my stomach when I woke up from my VSG...and it was removed the following day while I was awake.  But it wasn't too bad coming out.  I'm just thankful they put it in while I was asleep!

I know they did a scope before my surgery, but I had no tube in my nose or throat when I woke up.. IF they did for me, I was unaware of it.

Nooo, not while I was awake anyway.  I'm sure we are intubated during surgery, but they do that after they conk you out and remove it before you wake up.  Don't worry :-)

You will love Dr. Alvarez.  He is the best!  I never had the first problem.  Best wishes, and holler at me if I can help in any way.

If it is Before surgery it is the EGD. They put you under using Versed (it makes you forgot along with being asleep) & usually Fentanyl for pain. They are checking for tumors, polyps in the stomach along with a bacteria that some people carry called H. Pylori.

During surgery you will be intubated via the throat. Some surgeons will have the Anesthesiologist place a tube into your stomach via the nose so they can measure out your stomach and get the width etc.

Good luck on your surgery
