Questions about time frame for Mexico VSG

I just got sleeved in Mexico by Dr. Lopez Corvala last month. They like to have a 3 week lead-time from first call to operating table, so long as they have an open schedule. It's pretty quick, and you can usually get yourself sleeved inside of a month. 

went to Mexico within less than 1 month of contacting them,first I went there to check out the hospital and meet the Doctor and staff couldn't have been more relieved by how the whole place was run. the whole expereince was stress relieving. My hushand was really uneasy about the whole thing, once he went there he was reassured and felt better after meeting with Dr. Aceves and the staff.I had surgery the same day with another lady who had flown in from Ohio, I'm from Calif. she was a nurse and had been doing her homework for finding the best surgeon for 2 years she even made me feel better about my decision of who I chose through recomadation through others.I am 7weeks out of surgery, I have lost 25 lbs. I was in the hospital for 4days had the best treatment. My insurance had ok'ed the lap band it wasgoing to be in a surgery center (same day) I was really uneasy about how they treated you and decided to pay myself, my life is more important than the money.  I also did all of my prequalification stuff in the states. When it looked like it might be 6 months of runaround and still probably not covered by my insurance, I called Mexico LOL

I could have been scheduled the next week except I didnt have a passport yet! So it was a two week wait before flying down and getting it done. Of course like most here say, best thing I ever did.

I had a similar experience.  Run around and tons of testing locally and I was a self-pay.  Then I found out that I was to be the doctor's first patient.  No thanks!  After much research I found a surgeon in Mexico that had an amazing track record, and many surgeries under his belt.  From the time of my call and sending my medical history, I could have had my surgery as early as 2 weeks.  All testing was done once I arrived in Mexico.

I could have had the surgery within 10 days of my call, had to wait 8 weeks for my own reasons. The whole process down there is easy, easy, easy, nevermind that you don't have nearly as many dr visits, hoops to jump thru, etc, and I paid less than what the local bariatric surgeons wanted here. I also think I got more personal attentiopn than I've ever had at a hospital here. Good luck!
