Overweight!! I'm just overweight!!

I've gone from Super Morbidly Obese (BMI 54) to Overweight (BMI 29.8) in about 11 months!!

I think it may be possible to dream of "normal" at this point.  I'm so excited I just had to tell the folks who understand more than anyone else.

I wish I could say that I have been perfect in my eating and exercising, but the truth is that I struggle just like everyone else.  I eat mostly protein, but occasionally I have a nibble of birthday cake or a slice of peach (who can resist SC peaches in July??).  The nibble is as far as I go, though.  My restriction is still good, and if I fill up with protein, there isn't enough room to do too much damage with other foods.

Exercise hasn't been a consistent part of my journey.  It's a struggle to stay motivated.  Walking around on vacation was a joy instead of a problem last week, so maybe I'll be able to convince myself to renew my commitment to exercise soon.

Thanks for sharing this journey with me.  Your support is more important that you know!!

You must permanently change your lifestyle if you want your weight loss to be permanent. You can do it!

Yay! Congratulatuions. This is probably one of the few places that people can say they hope to be overweight one day.

Congrats!!!!   I was trying to compare my loss to yours even though I know we all lose at different rates.  I've now lost 89 pounds (32 before surgery though), which leaves 57 pounds since VSG on 3-22-11.  Do you remember if this is pretty much on target with where you were at, at almost 4 months out?   HW for me was 367 which is pretty close to what yours was.     I struggle with trying to eat right too..............I've certainly learned this is not a magical fix and there's still a lot of work involved.  The head hunger is about to do me in as I usually don't feel physically hungry but just seem to have the same cravings I had prior to surgery and it's so hard to resist.  I never knew so many foods (veggies, fruits, etc) were so loaded with carbs that we're supposed to avoid.  The sweets haven't been a real problem for me even though I used to be so addicted to them.     I'm trying to exercise "some" every day, by at least riding my stationary bike 2 miles each day with trying to walk some each day but still am unsure as to how much exercise I really need.    Congrats on your success............hoping that I can be as successful as you have been a year out.  It's nice to hear someone say that you haven't totally followed the plan with exercising and eating the right foods but still have been successful as I know there's no way I can follow the "perfect" plan like some on here seem to do.   Sometimes I feel as though my restriction isn't as good but then realize it's probably the slider foods that don't help with that.  Was never much of a "meat" eater which has made this journey even more difficult.

Hi Peepster.
It makes me a little nervous that anyone would be asking me for advice because I'm not a paragon of clean living, but since you asked...

Grilled chicken gives me the most restriction for the calories.  I keep some in the refrigerator all the time.  It's easy to get a piece when I'm feeling like I want to graze, and it fills me up so quickly, there isn't room for any real damage.

Hang in there!!!

Thanks for sharing your stats.  I'm certainly not doing as well as you did.....it seems I've had continuous stalls but I keep on plugging along because I don't have a choice.  I'm determined to make this work because nothing else ever has.

Great NSV!! Glad to hear you are considering increasing your activity level. It really has helped me (try to walk 1 hour each day) to move the ticker faster. Way to go.

That's great!  It's exciting to get there!  I hover on the border of normal/overweight.  As much as I'd like it to stay on the normal side, I don't want to lose more because I think I'd look sickly if I lost much more.  I'm content on the brink I guess.  As long as I stay within a few pounds of it, I'm happy!
