Surgery next Friday!

I feel like I've been waiting forever for my surgeon's office to call to schedule my surgery. I have been through all frustrating clerical delays so many other's have mentioned, including the insurance approval employee quitting (getting fired?) the clinic in the middle of the process. I have been riding the rollercoaster of emotions everyday thinking I would be getting a date, then thinking maybe I am making a big mistake. I read here every night to keep up the courage to follow through and take this giant step. Well I got so sick of waiting that I called my surgeon's office myself. They told me the scheduler was out of the office. Of course. So by 6:00 I am thinking its not going to happen today and  I know she doesn't even work on Fridays.

She called after 6:00 and gave me a date next friday!  I wasn't expecting a date so soon. I am so scared and I am almost sorry I've done it. I am glad I don't have to stress out much longer. I just wish I was as confident as so many members here, that are just grateful and excited to be on their way. How do you get over the doubts?

I have been waiting a while to and still have no clue when it will happen. Like you I am also petrified and constantly second guessing this decision.

It's all perfectly normal to feel this way.  Most of us did.  If you've done the research and know what to expect, then that is half the battle.  Prepping by buying what you'll need post-op and writing down some goals and all the benefits (and maybe even the risks) can help too.

Have faith!

Congrats on getting your surgery date. I have my surgery next Tuesday morning and I am crazy nervous!

It took me 5 months of haggling with my docs and insurance to get my date but it is well worth the wait. Hope your surgery goes as smoothly and positively for you as it did for me.

Thanks so much for your support. I especially want to say thanks to everyone who has taken the time to post about their experiences post surgery with great NSVs and ESPECIALLY everyone brave enough to share pictures. I have spent months reading every night and reminding myself why I started down this path. I would have never have made it to a date for surgery without all the great posts from members here.

I have to say my kids have been a big support as well. My son said "You will be fine mom. You have all of us kids to help you through the hard times." Then I texted my daughter and said "What have I done?" And she replied "Changed your life." (made me cry).

I have Anthem BCBS of CA, and no I didn't have to do any diet or have a waiting period. My insurance said they'd cover it as soon as I called to check (very lucky I know). That's why the pointless delays by my surgeon's office staff have been so frustrating. Hard to be angry with them though, they are very nice people.

Do yourself a favor, don't stress out.  You're almost there!!!  Take a look at some before and after videos on YouTube of VSG'ers.  Look at some of us here that have totally transformed themselves.  My ONLY regret is that I couldn't have done this sooner.

It's normal to feel the way that you do.  The best thing you will get from this forum is the support of so many that have gone before you.  You will be doing the same for others before you know it.  The surgery will be easy and seeing the weight melt away will inspire you to do more for yourself in all aspects of your life.

For me, it is almost a year and I can tell you that it is the single best thing I have ever done for myself.

Find a little patience to get you over this little speed bump and it will be smooth sailing.  We will save a seat on the loser's bench for you.
