I think I am not understanding the question. Your actual stomach, the organ you mean?  Nothing happens to it. 

Edit to add, the dangerousness of regain - there is an amount of overweight that definitely has dangers in relation to it. 

But I think I am not really answering satisfactorily, cuz I am not sure I totally understand the point of the question.  Sorry ladyfriend.  :{

I know that your stomach can stretch and therefore, you can gain the weight back, but I don't know what happens to the the staples/sutures.  I do imagine it could be very dangerous if you gain too much weight back.  I suppose that would be a question for the surgeon.

Im interested in hearing your story. Have you lost the weight and gained it back? if so what do you think contributed to that? what size was you bougee(sp?)? Im pre surgery and still gathering info, I think there is some things we could all learn from you as well as giving you support to help get you back on track. if that is the case, if you were talking hepatically, I dont think that far out, that you can damage the staple line. although the extra weight would not be good on you.

hi i am 12 days post op and have even watched a dvd that filmed my op at our local support meeting last week it was fasinating i saw all my insides and even the other sugon mentioned that my liver was not a nice clean lambs liver but had fatty liver depostits as i saw it all i asked the pther surgon what will happen now i have had the sleeve would the liver get better and he said in 6 months it will be fine , i also asked what size boogue he used it was 36 french he said it is the standard one uk use and the stomach can strech but not alot you have to make good choices in food he said to me hope this helps xxxxx

It could stretch and I suppose it is possible you could get a leak. I'd check with your surgeon on that one.
