Weird Protein Shake Question...

I have used shakes from day one. Prior to the sleeve I did one shake a day for years just cause it was easy… and well easy is good, no? Unless you're a 17 year old girl, I suppose. I still do one to two a day depending on my protein intake. I have noticed the more weight I lose the more I have to break up the shake into 2 or 3 servings as it makes my tummy turn. Weird?!?!? Anyone else have any experience with this. I used to be able to down one in less than 10 minutes now I have to space them out and sometimes even have to have some kinda food. Even a few bites to make my tummy feel better wait an hour and have some more….
I mean I can hang, its not the end of the world as we know it… but weird none the less.

The protein shakes have always been way tough for me. I've never been a "eat breakfast right away" kind of person. My nurse suggested I try to drink a shake before I go to work. She told me I would get my metabolism a kick start. It kick starts alright...every time I drink one before work I get a nauseated tummy...I get jittery and I get a major hot flash.

I'm tryin...I really am...but is this something you experience Jen?? I sure would like to get rid of this crappy feeling I get when I eat drink in the am! I'm hanging too...reluctently...but I am....

I think I understand where you are coming from. Shakes can be more filling that other liquids. They also have the ability to make you gag if you drink them too fast. My morning shake usually goes down in 2 parts with coffee in between. I think the coffee kinda controls the gag reflex. All sounds pretty normal.

Thats exactly how Ive been getting!!!! The only fix is to have about half slowly and then have a few bites of food (usually a carb) I was told adding a carb would help me to absorb more of the protein from the shake. This makes the sick tummy go away… I typically have 2 bites. Wait like 30 and then do the other half. This takes care of the ickiness but I miss being able to just pound it and get it out of the way man!

I've been doing two to three shakes a day and I find it really depends on the day for me. Sometimes they go down easy like sunday morning, other times I get sick a little. There's been a time or two when I've run out of shakes and then I'll get some and if a few days have passed, those first couple will make me feel sick to my stomach.

Have a shaketastic, day Jen! Hope it's filled with vitamin and protein packed chocolately goodness!

I also break my shakes into 2 parts. It's 17 ozs. with 40 g protein. So I do half, have some coffee, and then finish the rest for the morning "snack". I could easily drink it all in 15 minutes.

Actually, my shake kind of settles my stomach in the AM (reflux issues). But I break it into 2 parts based on the debate about the amount of protein absorption at one meal. I don't know the truth about only absorbing about 25 g at one time. So I'm hedging my bets.

I started to get sour stomach from protein shakes too.. :( which drove me nuts cuz it's hard enough already to get my protein in.. so, now in the mornings I have my protein coffee which has been a life saver.

Blend 1/4c milk (any u prefer) with 1/8thc sugar free coffee mate and a scoop of your fav protein powder.. blend up till frothy.

Pour into a mug and pour hot coffee on top.  It's a yummy Cafe au liat and ya can't taste the protein.. it's smooth and nummers without the upset stomach.

Yes I have the same problem. I use the dixie cups and drim 3 ounce servings of the protein shakes as I can. I like them very cold so it is easier for me to just pour the shake intoe the dixie cups and place the remainder back in the fridge. These shakes work best for me because they taste good, and go down with no trouble. they are also very filling..... Love the vanilla flavor...
