Insurance approval
In order for me to qualify I had to prove that my weight was causing medical issues. Like high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol. Then I had to have evals done by a psychiatrist, cardiologist, a dietitian and have a pulmonary function test.
I had my first appt with the bariatric Dr on June 10th. Oh, and I had to attend a bariatric seminar. That was on June 13th. And the Dr office tells me that if I am approved I should have the surgery sometime in September.
Go on line and look up medicaid summary of service for your state and it will tell you what types of medical services they cover. If you just call the 800 # on your card you might get wrong information. I did, they told me it wasn't covered but it is.
I hope I helped !!

I will be praying for your approval. I am in the same boat that you are in. I don't have medicaid but my husbands insurance originally told him that they don't cover the surgery when he first called. I spoke with my surgeon's ofc. and they said that we would go ahead and submit everything to the insurance company and see what they say. They seemed to think that once they saw my medical records with my weight and my comorbidities that they would approve the surgery. If not, then I guess we will be paying out of pocket. I really hate to do that because we will have to make a loan against my husbands 401k through his work.
So keep me in your prayers as well.

You know, I really hate insurance companies !!! They take your money but don't want to provide anything in return. I'm on medicaid because I was denied by every insurance company that I applied for because of my weight then 246, and because I am on high blood pressure and cholesterol medication. I wish that they would realize that by approving weight loss surgeries people get healthier and most don't need to be on their medications anymore.
Well, enough complaining from me. LOL I wish you well. You are in my prayers.
