Benefits of being a Slow Loser
Since my first 25 or so lbs. came off the first 2 weeks, I fit into the slow loser category, but, like most here, I'm also okay with it. Other than the huuuuuuge 3.5 week stall I had 3 weeks post-op, I haven't really had a stall. Some weeks I've only lost 1/2 a lb., other weeks 1 lb. Most of the time its about 1 lb - 1.5 lbs. a week now - things have definitely begun to slow a bit. But I also feel this will make it easier to maintain, and my hair loss has been minimal, thank goodness and is now starting to subside.
I realize this means it will take for-freaking-ever to get to goal, but I also think about where I'd be right now if I hadn't started this processs - probably another 5-10 lbs heavier than the day of surgery, or more.
I feel much better, look much better and have adjusted to a new way of eating. Not a bad deal!
6'1" with a large frame. Yes, I've lost a ton of weight in just over 8 mos., (156 lbs.) but I'm more physically active than nearly any of my senior (I'm 65) chums and I'm willing and able (retired) to put in the hours of exercise that help my rapid weight loss.
Of course, paying close attention to my diet has also been a necessary part of the weight loss - I'm more honest than God in recording everything I eat and drink (EVERYTHING) and some days the numbers are embarrassing - so the next day I try to make up for my sins. The journey is not the same for all of us - well, it is actually, but the time we take on that journey is heavily (sorry) dependent on many, many outside factors.
Losing the weight we need to lose is the important goal - how fast we get there, well, I'm not sure that matters too much as long as we continue the journey. We ALL need to be proud of what we're doing for ourselves and those who love and support us. Congrats on your success so far - and keep on going one day at a time.

I learned here that keeping ourselves accountable is the best way to goal.

I don't know if I'm a fast or slow loser.. maybe somewhere in between. But I'll tell you when you have so much weight to lose you can lose fast and a lot, but it barely shows and you are STILL quite fat.
I still can't get into clothes (size 16) that people discarded at the OH Northern California picnic that we threw last April. They discarded them because they were too big.. and I still can't fit them. Ugh.
I'm almost in a size 16.. not quite though. Often feels as if I have so far to go. So you have less weight to lose, you'll go slower. :)
