I have one incision that is not healing well. It's red, swollen angry. 4 weeks tomorrow. It was rubbing on my waist bands so I put a bandaid on it.
That allowed the swelling to go away a little and suddenly I feel this sharp poking stitch hanging out. It's part in, part out. I'm to chicken to pull on it.
Anyone else had this? Clearly a call to my surgeon tomorrow is in order. Are these stitches supposed to be gone or do they dissolve or ???

I had that happen to me with my gallbladder surgery (2004) and it popped out one day as your has and it came out on its own before I got to the doctor.
I mentioned this to my doctor with this most recent surgery (VGS) as one of my incisions was a little red and tender. He said that sometime the knot in the stitch comes undone and eventually works its way to the surface, no big deal. He said it is like fishing line. I was lucky as mine healed up fine. I would probably wa**** and put neosporin on it and a bandaid. It's not a problem, just be careful it doesn't get infected.
Good Luck!

That's the port/incision site they removed yer excised tummy. Where they stitch it up internally with dissolvable sutures to CLOSE it...Where the major trocar movement occured! Where yer the sorest at post op as tissue constricts, like a tightenin sensation...to become a scar and HEALS!
First time I saw mine...I got a lil freaked out about that 'pig hair' poppin outta my tummy too! I didn't even notice it till AFTER my 2 week check up with my surg...my incisions were clean, closed, dry, healed sooo nicely....then I noticed that PIG HAIR!
I didn't panic tho, I too thought hey maybe it dissoved under my skin and is broken...I pulled on it a little ..but it wouldn't budge. I'd play with that lil pig hair, sometimes rubbin my wrist against it when I showered, or changed clothes it would kinda snag etc......At my 3 MONTH check up I asked what gives with this..it won't dissolve!....my surgeon gently pulled the stitch and snipped it at the base..I was like..all this time...I COULDA DONE THAT!! lmao!
I was kinda sad to see my lil friend go!
..some ice pacs should help 15 minutes every now n again for swellin ...as long as its not oozin anythin...but I'd put a call into your surgeon...and see him as soon as ya can..for peace of mind!
I had my surg in SoCal...I live in NMex ...so wasn't worth uneccessary trip in my case.

I had that too. Some of the suture material that was snipped off the drain fell into the incision and the nurse didn't notice. I didn't either - for about 4 - 6 weeks. Then i noticed it, and unfortunately by then, the piece was too deeply inbedded. I tried pulling it out with tweezers etc but finally had to go back in and have the dr dig it up and pull it out.
I wanted it out quickly, hoping that the sooner it was out, the sooner the healing could really begin! Now that it's out, the incision is much flatter and healing a lot nicer.
Good luck!
