Got My Approval Yesterday - Immediate Fear! Anxiety!

I am on vacation and got my call yesterday that Anthem  BC/BS approved my surgery.  I immediately got scared!  I have been acting "as if" I would do this, and now I really am here.  I am happy and excited and scared all at the same time.  I am supposed to have a scheduling meeting next week.  Thanks for being there!

Thanks, Carmelita!  I've been away from OH for too long.  We were actually ocean fishing - go figure that you can get cell reception so far from land.  We caught lots of great fish AND I got the approval call.

Don't be scared :-)  It is an easy surgery and an uneventful recovery if you follow your surgeon's guidelines to a tee.

Now that you are a go, start now preparing your body for recovery.  Drink water like a fish.  Get the junk carbs (including bread) and sugar and caffeine out of your diet.  Eat lots of protein and green veggies.  And start walking if you don't do it already.  I guarantee that doing this stuff now will make your recovery and your post-op eating plan sooooo much easier!  You can do it!

And don't be afraid of doing it; be afraid of NOT doing it and continuing to live an overweight, unhealthy life.      Best wishes on your journey!

Thanks, Dorothy!  I have cut out sodas, drinking lots and lots of water.  I have been working on junk carbs - vaca is challenging - a family reunion - but have been doing good at home.  We don't have a liquid pre-op diet, just very low carb - 30 g/day I think (I have to look at my book, it's at home).  You guys are right.  I have felt crappy in every picture taken.  I have been walking lots more than at home, and at home trying twice/week plus the pilates.  I'll be home this evening and on my way to my new life.

I just got approved and feel the same way.  Surgery scheduled for 9/13.  I haven't heard anything about prep diet either.  Is that all the time or does it depend on the person?  I'm looking for all the advice I can get.
