Mexican Food
I am going out to eat tonight with some friends I have not seen since my surgery. We are going to a Meixcan Restuarant (Nacho Mama's).
I looked at the menu today and yesterday over and over again, and all I really see I can have is the Fajita's which I like anyway.
I was wondering if anyone else has any other suggestions on what else I might be able to eat. I am 2 months out, (the 16th will be my official twom months out), I am down 50 pounds as of this morning as well.. WOO HOO!
Almost to my first goal of 70 pounds in 3 months.
Thank you for any other suggestions. Nacho Mama's that I am going to is in New Orleans, LA, if anyone wanted to look at the menu to give other suggestions. Thank you again for your help.

Looking at their menu....not a lot of choices. Seems like they don't really have any non tortilla based meals.
I would recommend some black beans, soup, and thier spinach salad doesn't look bad if you can tolerate that now.
You could also always get a taco plate and just try to eat the insides.
Another suggestion is to see if you can order something a la carte. Then just order 1 chicken taco and maybe a few black beans for an example (if you can tolerate solids now).
If not....go with some refried beans and soup!
Definitely avoid any tortillas (corn or flour doesn't matter), tough veggies (peppers etc), chips, etc.
Congrats on your weight loss....you are doing wonderful.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I like the idea of the chicken taco as well. If I got the fajita's I would just eat the steak and some of the refried beans.
I will look more at the taco's as well.
Thank you on the weight loss. I thought I was the only one that got up at these insane hours of the morning.
My body has it's own personal alarm clock and likes to get up at 4:30am everymorning.

I know you have probably already had dinner but for future reference =) One of my favorite things when I was pre-op and trying to drop some lbs was to eat the fajitas without the tortillas. I would just pile up the chicken, then the onions and bell peppers with a tiny bit of cheese and then pile on the pico degallo (sp?) and it was soooo yummy. It is something I plan to make when I am far enough out to eat that kind of food. Oh ya....my pico de gallo I make has diced avocados in it (yum), really adds to it.
I haven't looked at their menu, but I ate at a Mexican restaurant yesterday. I'm only 4 1/2 weeks out. I had a beef tostada (did not eat the shell). I added guacamole and refried beans. It came with lettuce, sour cream, and some shredded cheese. I was only able to eat a few bites, but it was delicious!
BTW your weight loss is fantastic!! I've been stalled for almost 3 weeks and really getting depressed. I hope you have/had (not sure which at this point!) a great meal!

Thank you so much for the suggestion with the beef tostada. This is great, I have three things so far I can think about eating for tonight. This morning before I posted I was worried and could only find one thing.
Thank you also about my weight loss, I hope that your stall ends soon for you.. Good Luck

Hey Susan,
I know when I usually go to Nacho mama's, last time I got the shrim wrap and just unwrapped it and ate the shrimp and some of the insides. Another time I got the fajitas and they come in the the sizzling plate so that way you can just eat the meat and you don't have to use the tortillas that they bring you! I guess that you are feeling better since you are going out and about! Are you? I hope so and look forward to seeing you soon at the conference!
