I start mine tomorrow but since I have already lost 46 pounds preop my doctor has told me I can have a little more food than normal so I think I am going to be okay.  I will try very hard to stick to the plan as much as I can.  Today I am having the BIGGEST ice cream cone I can eat though!!!

I lost a good amount of weight before surgery, but I didn't have a pre-op diet other than clear liquids the day before surgery...

I would be nervous not to follow my surgeons plan, but I don't see how it would *hurt* you... lots of people don't have such extreme pre op diets and do just fine :-)

I was on a 14 day full liquid diet prior to my RNYGB. 4 protein shakes per day and however much sugar free popsicles and jello I wanted. I learned how much I hate Jello!! Honestly, after the first couple days the hunger went away and I didn't even WANT or CRAVE food. I did NOT cheat at all. I wanted to follow my surgeon's orders because 1. He knows what he is doing and 2. I wanted the safest surgery and the best outcome. You can do it! The discipline learned now will on help you get stronger to avoid the foods you shouldn't have post surgery!! I am now 17 days post op and I am so happy with the decision and the outcome! You will be amazed at how quickly your body starts to change!!! Use the pain meds faithfully for the first week, walk as slowly and much as possible and get your liquids!!! GOOD LUCK, YOU'LL DO GREAT!!!!

The more weight you lose prep the happier you will be. Why cheat yourself?

i have to admit i cheated like last week sometime. i had 1 corn dog.. my surgery is wed 17th. I also have type 2 diabetes, and my sugar levels are great. im on a 2wk liquid diet n 1 low carb high protein meal a day! i have found that if i change it up, eat what im allowed to have, the hunger is not there. good luck to everyone!

hmm. thanks! its hard, really is. i am insulin resistant, and so the sugar from these shakes (the little there is) is not being absorbed and im craving food so bad!
