a few things on my mind

ok here's whats on my mind:

1. i've updated my weight on my body tracker a dozen times and the ticker still wont change...am i doing something wrong?

2. ive also changed my background picture on my profile and it wont show the updated picture either!

3. im on my preop diet and decided to have a couple sips of diet mt dew cuz i had no water around, and i have terrible acid reflux now from it! guess its cuz i got used to not drinking them

4. im nervous & excited that my preop apt is tomorrow at 1030. im afraid my doctor will be upset that i havent lost enough weight tho :-/ (11lbs in 2 weeks)

5. i went shopping for a few things at Lane Bryant (1 of 2 places in myrtle beach that sell plus sized clothing thats actually cute) and was thinking WOW, this is probably the last time ill shop in here!

6. since my surgery is in a week, i'm in nesting mode. i feel like i need to pack already and go out and buy things to take to the hospital with me. VETERANS: what should i buy/take w/ me?

7. i'm really worried about getting clots after surgery. the surgery itself doesnt worry me. its complications afterwards that worries me.

8. my surgeon says that i could be in the hospital anywhere from just one night to 3 nights "depending"....who stayed in the hospital more than 1 night, and if so, why? what makes them keep you?

k thanks for reading my post! :-)

If you want to get out ASAP, walk walk walk!

I only stayed one night when they had told me 2.... I was REALLY motivated even though all the nurses were WONDERFUL!!

If your Dr. is AWOL the day you want to leave, don't be afraid to call his office. The receptionist said to me, "You're calling from the hospital?" I said, yes, on my cell phone... LOL

Then I called again after office hours and had him paged

I got out at 9:30pm... but I got to sleep in my own bed :)

All I took with me was a change of clothes and pjs. Never even wore the pjs was in the hospital gown the whole time.As for blood clots I received heparin  shots in my belly evey 8 hrs. I also had on the sequentional compression devices. Best way to prevent blood clots is to get up and moving as soon as possible.

items to take to hospital.. I was told lip moisturizer is crucial.. and believe me it is.. my mouth was so dry after surgery Tuesday and then I couldnt have anything to drin****il Wednesday.. so lip balm,  extra undies in case of accidents.. a robe if you dont want to wear the 2 hospital gowns to cover you.  I took 2 very comfy sets of clothes to just lounge in.. 2 pairs of shorts 2 t-shirts.. so after showering you can put your own stuff.  I showered Wednesday evening with the help of my hubby and after they removed the catheter/foley that was hanging around.. it felt so good after the shower to be clean dry and in my own clothes and not have that weird sensation down there..

I was in the hospital 3 nights..(I told my surgeon Thursday I didnt think I was ready to go home yet),  due to having extreme nausea/dry heaving and pain..  the dry heaving was caused from the pain meds they were giving me.. every time they put it in the iv and it would wash over me as soon as it hit my stomach.. dry heaves.. talk about painful.. I had surgery Tuesday 8-2 and finally on Thurs 8-4 i told them no more of that pain med.. and by Thurs evening I was feeling waaaay better.. even able to eat 2 popsicles and drink 3 oz.. so after seeing my surgeon on Friday about 12 I got one more iv push of a different med had to wait an hour then got to go home..

It took my ticker a long time to change too.. but I havent done it since before surgery so.. I need to update it since my weight is now different.. I asked about that to and rcvd good feedback on how to change it and then to give it time.. soo be patient maybe it will work..

as for the complications after surgery no one can really predict or tell you yes you will have this or yes you will have that because everyone is different.. I prayed a lot and put my trust in God to bring me through with no complications and so far so good.. I have been taking the Lovenox shots at home for the clots and hopefully its working..

Good Luck next week and keep us posted..  Let us know how it goes..

very helpful reply! thanks. yea if it dont feel right to go home and i feel its too soon, i may just ask my surgeon if i can stay another night. hopefully it wont be a problem. ive prayed, and so had my family, and im on the prayer chain at 2 churches. so i know the lord is watching over me and will help me through this surgery. im just a worrier so i think of every possible complication that could happen and with the crappy luck i have, i may be the 1 in a million statistic. i must think positive!!!
that darn ticker and profile stuff takes a year to change! its so frustrating, but nothing i can do about uit. ill keep yall updated. thanks !!

#1 i think we r all at a lost for whats goin on. i jsut changed my i deleted them and redid them hopefully it will update because ive lost a total of 68 lbs

#5 isnt that amazing. the last time i went shopping there was in jun for vacation for bra and panties but now i can happily shop at a average store like old navy and have no problems finding my size. i wore a size 24 pants and a 2x shirt on surgery day may 4th and as of yesterday when i went shopping i wear a 16 close to 14 in pants and a large shirt!!!! wooohooo

#6 i didnt pack too much because i knew i would be sleeping, or walking. take ur undies, toothbrush and paste, no slip sole slippers or slip on shoes, and a comfortable pair of sweat pants and a t shirt... and they should take care of the rest at the hospital

#7 dont worry about the blood clots my doctor had me on baby asprin forr 3 months post op n walk walk walk even when u dont feel like it walk, keep the circulation going!!!

#8 i was only in the hospital one night, i was able to manage the pain and i walked my butt off because theres no place like home, youll be fine!!
