I didn't weigh myself until 15 days after my surgery, so I don't really know what to tell you except maybe don't try to weigh for a while.

After reading many posts like this one, and others where people were freaking out about the little numbers on the scale, I decided that I won't be weighing myself execpt for when I go to the doctor's office.

I will judge my progress by the fit of my clothes etc.

The battery in my scale died a few weeks before I had surgery and I have no intention of replacing it.

Just my personal preference (which might change).

magnesium 500mg twice a day, then after bm, take just one per day, you can get them in vit section. You have to get in all your protein and fluids to keep loosing weight, also at 3 weeks you go into a stall because your body is freaking out. Keep your carbs below 40 and you should do great.

No worries, it is IMPOSSIBLE to not loose weight with the tiny amounts that you can have right now.. your body may be in shock and retaining everything though.. I know I was stuck with the excess fluid weight for about a week, lost some weight that next week then started the 3 week stall, for 3 long weeks.. soo that first month.. month and a half is crazy then it works out from there.  congrats on the sleeve!

when you finally poo I am sure you will feel much better

Thanks to everyone who has posted in this thread. I am not the original poster but I have learned a lot just from this one thread! I will be 2 weeks post-op on Wednesday and I lost about 25 lbs pre-op, then another 12 in the time I was in the hospital, and have been feeling bloated and... bigger for the past few days. Also constipated. I don't have a scale at home so I won't weigh myself again until at least Tuesday but I'm a little less worried now and I will try some of these recommendations.

Hi Momsy (I like that name), I absolutely can not stomach any protein drink that comes in power form nor can I take the type that is supposed to be like Gatorade... I found some at GNC called Total Lean Shakes; they come in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry in the store. There is also a brand called Muscle Milk, which I found out is owned by Pepsi; but they have other flavors on their website. Both of these brands are pretty tasty. I usually try and drink one first thing in the morning to guarantee that I at least get 25grams in. The ones at GNC are on sale the first 6days of each month with a GNC member card, which is a free membership. They cost about $6.99 for a 4 pack when not on sale.

I just had surgery on 8/22 like you.  I also was constipated.  My doctor's office recommended Phillips Milk of Magnesia.  I took it for 2 days and that took care of it.  I gained about 7 lbs immediately after surgery, however, now at the end of the week it is gone + another 5.

As far as protein drinks - I really like the Atkins chocolate protein shakes.  The Slim Fast Low Carb ones are also good.  I don't like the powder drinks,

Hope it helps,

Michelle
