I took in almost 8 ounces of soup in an hour.  It didn't fill me up and now I'm hungry again.  It's scaring me!  Thoughts?  I mean, I know I'm supposed to get in 64 ounces of liquids a day, and I'm not up to that.....it's just with the strained soup, I think of it more as a meal.  I don't know.  I guess I'm just confused.

I can definitely drink 8 ounces of brothy strained soup in less than an hour.  I haven't tried anything thicker, so I assume the thin soup passes through my stomach pretty fast, like water does.  Do whatever you can to get your fluids in.   I can feel some hunger, sometimes, but I just keep drinking.

THe first couple of weeks is really confusing .. I'm sure everyone feels that way .. I know I did.

Just keep hydrated .. once you're able to move up to mushies it won't be quite as confusing.

Good luck to you!

It's liquid.  It goes right through you.  Be happy that you can get your liquids in.  Lots of folks are still very swollen so soon out of surgery and have problems getting any liquid in at all.

Hunger is normal.  Liquids don't do much to satisfy it and the ghrelin hasn't worked it's way out of your system yet.  Just tough it out!!!

Believe me, I thank my lucky stars it's going down.  Only with the help of Zofran though.  I spent 48 hours vomiting at first.  Ended up in the ER twice in one day.  So I get how hard it can be.

What they said!!!   I found that jello felt more like 'food' to my new tummy and it helped with the hunger part of the liquid phase.  Good luck!  Soon you'll be surprised at how much a spoon-full of pudding can fill you up!
