Maybe its too early hun...
I didnt start puree foods until my 4th week.
If it hurts that bad, set it aside and do your full liquids or
protein shakes for a few more days or another week.
Only you know what your body can and cannot do.

They say if we cannot tolerate a food this week, to re=visit
it next week.

We can train our sleeves to do what ever we want it to do.
But for right now being so early out, take it easy on your system.
you just had major surgery.

in the beginning i was really concerned about just having surgery
and hurting my sleeve. I was on clear liquids for two weeks.  the 3rd
week I went on full liquids and that mean for me adding a dark milky
liquid which was my protein shake.

let your system heal...  dont ru****  I dont care what the doctors now
a days are saying.  they seem to rush us on food too early and we are
like the ginny pigs for their experiments.....

I adore you and congratulations with your 16 days post op.

PS:  your writing is a lil small...  hurts my eyes..   can you make it bigger... lol  winks

i had (HAVE)same issue
week 1 clear liquids(water,cranberry,tea,coffee(no sugar)
week 2 full liquids(protein drinks,fat free-skim milk,water,soups etc..)
week 3 any thing that could be pureed(cream soups, water downed or milk grits, cream of wheat, protein drinks
week 4 able to start adding meat like ground lean beef, deli meat, chicken or tune from a can..
But here i am a four weeks still on clear liquids...yes every body heals different but if u feel like hey something is just not right call because i did for two weeks and (even thought OH is great and everybody advise is wonderful) they keep saying it just swollen give it time but something was telling me that i should be getting more down with out vomiting on protein shakes, and yogurt drinks.call Dr office on Tuesday went to Dr on wed. found out the top of my sleeve is very narrow so i am now scheduled for a EGD(this Saturday) so a balloon can be inserted to expand the top of my sleeve..
if u feel like its not right  go with your first mind let them know, hey i need another x-ray they can give  a thicker substance to swallow to check for holds in stomach...
i had a hold

I started pureed foods at 2 weeks out and I had to go really sloooow.  I had to take baby-sized bites and could only eat a few bites in a sitting.  So in addition to what others suggested, I would say to eat really small bites (think 1/4 of a baby spoonful - literally you can go get baby spoons) and take 3-5 minutes between bites and only eat 2-3 bites in a sitting.  Make sure the pureed food is the consistency of applesauce and has enough liquid in it to slide off a spoon.  It needs to be really mashed up and really liquidy.

I did a combo of liquids and pureed for my week 3 until it started to feel better in week 4 or so.

Well your post reassures me a little. I thought I had a serious problem as I was following the dietician/surgeon's schedule.

What happens is that when I try a denser food..it just SITS THERE!!
I cannot even get sips of water to go down..and eventually after HOURS of this misery.. I throw up.

Since the beginning I have had problems with vomiting.. so I am seeing the Surgeon on Monday. I am ok with just full liquids, blended soups, protein drinks.

I am dying for REAL food, but will do whatever is best.

Hang in there, Jan
