Slim Fast Shake for pre-op and post-op?

Hi there,
I am getting ready to start my pre-op liquid diet and my doc only allows yogurt and liquids for 2 week. I think I will starve to death LOL.

Well I love the taste of chocolate royale slim fast shakes and was wondering about taking that. I am in Canada and cannot get my hands on "unjury" that everyone talks about without paying lots of shipping costs. Wanted to get something local. It just seems like USA has all the good stuff haha.

I noticed that slim fast has high fructose corn syrup and that can't be good for you UGGHH! Any comments? Please be nice :)

Hello, I am having surgery 9/14/11 and I am in the same boat.  I do not know what I can eat on this liquid diet.  I tried a sample unjury from my dietician so I have since ordered more.  I want to eat something, I guess I will try some jello since they say I can have that.  I am on my first full day and feel like I'm starving.  So far I've heard that it gets better after 3rd day, but for now I'm starving.

Good catch on the sugars. I looked up Slim Fast and saw for about 190 cals you also got 10 protein but 24 carbs. A little high on the carbs in my opinion.

Can you get Atkins shakes? For about the same calories or a little less, I think the protein was 15 and the carbs are only 6.  I think a better choice if you can find it.

Perhaps other will give you some ideas of what they've used.

Good luck.

Edited to add---check out this website. I do allot of ordering here and they have free shipping. I don't know what that means for you but might be worth a phone call.

I had some Slimfast shakes in my fridge from pre-op but once I got post-op, I dumped them down the drain.  Way too many carbs for me to be successful!  Same with Boost.

I agree wwith the rest of your posters. too many carbs in the slim fast.

I would look for the Atkins or something else without HFCS for sure.

Surely there are SOME other  kinds of protein shakes in Canda?

I know that post-op slim fast is a no-no but my dr cleared the slimfast low carb type shakes for the pre-op diet. In fact he gave me a list of things to eat and that was on the suggestion for both morning and night (soup/broth/cream of wheat for lunch)

I was raised in a town across from the Canadian border and I married a Canadian

I know Canada should have a GNC or similar due to so many US brands across the border. I went to GNC today. They have a great selection of protein shakes and you can return if you do not like.

In Canada as well, found GNC it has been here for many many years but found even a better store POPEYE's it has tons of protein stuff and it has the QUEST Bars that people have been talking about on here but that is further out in the game.

Check out their link and see if there are any near your location

I do agree with ya though, Canada doesn't have the torani syrups either, how the heck we gonna get this stuff. All the good stuff is in the USA so I been thinking about taking a truck across and going shopping lol

Try a Starbucks for some SF syrups. You probably won't get the same selection but maybe they could order some for you. A little more expensive, of course, but at least you could try one or two.
