Well I think I'm passed all of the emotions and what ifs, now I am just trying to prepare.  I made home made chicken broth and froze it, bought a few ice pops but other then that I'm not sure what I should be getting if anything at all.  I know I will receive more instructions at surgery but am I really going to want to hit the store.  I'm trying to avoid that for the first two weeks at least.  Any suggestions?

You will certainly be advised on after care but do you have all your protein supplements ready?
Your nutritionist should of advised you on this already.
You will have to have 3-4 protein supplements (protein drinks, bariatric soups etc) DAILY
and you will be drinking lots of water and zero sugar drinks for 2 weeks.
It becomes daunting and redundant real fast so you will want some variety.
Best wishes with your surgery!

My doctor told me that the most important thing to do the first week is to stay hydrated with clear  liquids most importantly, to stay away from sugar and carbonated drinks.  He wasn't concerned with protien for the first week and I will meet with the NUT on my follow up after one week to discuss my diet.  He did say if I start to feel like my sugar is getting low to drink a little watered down OJ.   They didn't say anything about protein supplements for the first week.  We discussed that for week 2 and 3.  We did discuss multi vit.  I don't want to get too far ahead of myself,  I'm concerned with next week and the week after for now.  I'm sure I'll be up to shopping and experimenting after that.   I have been doing a lot of lable reading on finding foods, drinks and snack high in protien.  I'm even trying things a head of time to see if I like them.

Wow good luck!

I'm going shopping again this weekend to look around and read lables.  I have been cleaning and cooking and stocking my freezer too.  I have cooked for the last month for my boyfriend (and parents visiting) , I seriously don't want to eat just from that.   If my boyfriend says there is nothing to eat I'll shoot him. LOL.  I have also made stuff that I can portion size later on for me.

I kind of feel the same way.  I'm not even packing a bag.  Tooth brush and brush.  It's only an overnight.

I know I won't want to go out the first couple days so that is what I'm worried about and it sounds like I'll be fine there too.  Worst case is I will have to send Andrew out to shop.

When I asked my doctor about vitamins and protien for the first week he said my body will live off the reserve for a week if I can't get it in.  Not to worry.  Said just to hydrate (most import) and walk. (makes sense to me)

I don't know your doctor's orders about driving, but hitting the stores was a good thing for me, lots of walking, and a pleasant, unusual disinterest in food.

I love jello jigglers and wished I had made those before the hospital so they were there when I came home.  Popsicles are good, and if you find a good broth, that can be wonderful.  The nurse in the hospital recommended Kitchen Basics.  I tried their vegetable broth and fell in love.  I have gone through 2 boxes since my surgery.

You'll need protein supplements - I really recommend ordering some Unjury chicken soup flavor (they'll sell you 10 individual packets).  I can't do the sweet stuff constantly.  It is yummy.

My doctor just said if I'm taking pain med's don't drive.   I wasn't sure if I would feel up to shopping so I wanted to be somewhat prepared a head of time.

What is Unjury chicken soup?  Where do you get it?  I'm not a sweet eater so that sounds good.

I made home made chicken soup and put it through a cheese cloth.  Then I figured I would blend it when I can eat puree.

Not sure where you can buy Unjury products except online.  They have a website (which I've used) and sell on Amazon.

I bought a tub of the chicken soup and a tub of the unflavored, after trying packets.  I put the unflavored in several different things (like vegetable broth with a little tomato soup) and eat the chicken as is.  Yum.  Burned out on sweet.

I need to try the Unjury chicken soup.
I'm getting gaggy on the sweet protein drinks.
I did make my own chicken soup, skimmed fat,
blended and strained and it was yummy but not
that high on protein.
Thanks for the tip on Kitchen Basics!
