Survery in 5 days - how to prepare

sugar free jello was a great thing for me. Get some sugar free apple sauce for your crushed medications.  I saw that you weren't packing a bag, but hospital air is dry, so bring your favorite lip balm and hand lotion.  I brought shampoo samples and my favorite bar soap for my first shower, after 2 days without a shower or shampoo I was really happy to have them.  I wore the same clothes home that I wore to the hospital.  Slide in slippers are great for all of the walking you should do.  I hate the hospital "socks".  I also bought a light cotton robe so I would need to worry about over exposure while walking.  I had surgery at the hospital where I work so i thought I would care about how I looked, but I really didn't.  Bring your cell phone and charger too.  Don't be shy about asking for a large gown in pre-op. They thought it would be too big for me but I never would have been comfortable in a regular sized gown.  Good luck!

Thanks,  chapstick is a must.  I agree.  I am only scheduled for one night and hope that is all I need.  I will go in on Tuesday and hopefully be out on Wednesday morning.  If that doesn't happen I may have a bag at home that someone can bring me with everything I need.   For one night I will deal with hospital atire anything more then that I want my own stuff. 

 I will shower the morning of and will shower when I get home (if overnight stay).

I will bring flip flops or something to walk in.  But those I will wear in.

Almost forgot about cell phone charger ... Thank you.  I'm making a list.

Thanks for tip on med's my doctor said they are small enough to swollow but I don't want to take any chances the first week or so, apple sauce it is.

I stayed 2 nights. The first 2 days I was really out of it.
I couldn't even shower on the 2nd day I was so weak. Only washed my face, pits and crotch.
Never did my hair or make up,  just combed my hair and brushed my teeth alot.
Had cotton mouth bad even though I was being pumped up via an IV with fluids.
No need to to bring a robe because you can  use a hospital gown for a robe.
I never got the dry lips but alot of people apparently do.
Never had any gas pains but would get very nauseated when I walked.
But everybody is different.

BTW - thanks for not making fun of my typo.  I meant Surgery in 5 days :)
