No surgery for me

Hi my fellow vsg board members,I'll try to make this as short as possible. After my consult with the gastroenlogist(sp??) about doing my upper gi which is tomorrow. On  my way home i stop by my pcp office for him to write my letter and to fill out the paper that my ins required. My Ins require that i do some kind of program for six month and I've been doing WW since march and my pcp knew this.So i told him that i would need to come to him once a month for six month.Well he told me that he wasn't going to do that,So he told me just to continue doing what i was doing and keep accurate documentation and he would look over everything and fill in the blank on whatever paper work i needed.
Well when i was in his office he told me that he could not fill out my paper work because he had not seen on a month to month bases and that totally made me mad because that's not what he told me in march. If i knew that he was going to change his mind i would have went to another  pcp.So i called my surgeons office and spoke to the MA and she told me to get a new PCP because the letter that he faxed over  to them will get me denied and the fact that he don't wanna fill out the paper is not going to work in my favor.
So I've done everything and now i have to do another six month of a supervised diet,I already found a new pcp and i will have my first appointment with him on the 21st and I'll explain everything to him when i go.So  Feb 2012 will be my last month and then i can submit everything to my Ins,Thank god that everything I've done so far is still valid for a year.I'm bummed that i wont be getting my surgery towards the end of this month   but i know that everything happens for a reason.I know that everything is in god hands and will be on the loser bench before i can even blink and eye.I just wanted to come and update you guys on what was going on with me.

It really was sucky of him,I'm mad but there is not much i can do now except to just do another six months. My Ins will not accept it all if the pcp will not fill in the paper work. The stuff from WW would just be an added bonus,The new PCP even though ive not met him yet his office is right next to my surgeon office and when i was talking to the MA she told me that they use dr from that office all the time.

hi there,

I having been doing weigh watchers for two years at work,  - my PCP and surgeon office told me my insurance requires that it be a medical surpervise 6 month program, so i am in the same postion your a in.   I had to switch my PCP in August because he gave me the wrong advice.

Its very annoying but i know that its all for the better,Sometimes we want things when we want it.I mean i told my surgeon that i was doing WW for six month and thats why he told me that i could be having surgery so early. If i knew that my PCP would then turn on me knowing all this info before hand.I would have been found another pcp but i guess that its all starting fresh and this might be best for me....We will be on the loser bench soon

In California, you can appeal that decision to the State and they will overturn it.

can your new PCP sign off the paperwork or dos he have to actually see you  for 6 months?

Well at least you can be here on OH and you will learn so much that when your time comes for surgery you will practically be a vet!  Good luck!

I think some people do the medifast or surgifast diets just so they do have medical supervision  every month in order to avoid that trap the Drs put us in.  I really like most of my Drs but I have seen instances here on the forum that are sometimes hard not to be angry about.  I hope you get the surgery you want and need and that your new Dr will be helpful to you.
