12 weeks out and losing my mind

So I'm about 12 weeks out from surgery and doing well.  I've lost almost 50 pounds total and am doing well with eating.

But it's almost like I have brain fog.  On Tuesday, I wasn't paying close enough attention and got in a small fender bender.  Today I forgot to take my meds & vitamins (which I always remember otherwise).  I also forgot my work laptop at home and had to run back for it.  I'm forgetting to make phone calls and send emails and several other small things.

It's so frustrating and I feel like I'm losing my mind.  Where has my concentration gone??  I'm drinking 60+ oz of fluids a day, getting 60+ grams protein a day, taking my vitamins (other than today).

I expected to feel this way through about 6 weeks out.  Heck, I had major surgery.  But I thought it would be gone by now.  Anyone else feel funky this far out?  Ideas about why and what I can do to get back to my normal brain?

I have heard of this happening with low to no carbs. I went through it to but it has passed now. Im getting alot better. I would joke at work that the more pounds I lost, the more rain cells went with them... It will pass, I promise. Use sticky notes in the mean time lol

My carb counts for the last three days are: 40, 23, 46.  I aim for 40 or less per day.

Hmm.

Hummmm this is scary.  Can you call your doctor and have him send you a referral to the neurologist?

It's not like I forget where I live.    But it is frustrating!

I have my 3-month appt coming up so I will ask then.  I average about 700 calories a day (aim for 600-800).  If I eat more than this, I don't seem to lose weight so I've been keeping this low.

If not checked recently have your doc do labs looking for deficiancies in vital vitamins, some ppl sometimes needs to increase some deficiencies with more than others and that can add to it. Low carbs may also be the culprit, and if they are check with your doc off to see if there are ways to increase enough to help get you through it, with maybe unflavored prot powder added to carb snacks that are low in cals and good for you? Just suggestions, I would call your doc and see what he says.
I can do it, I can do it, chugga, chugga, chugga said the little train! Thank you Lord for giving me the strength!

In my non-medical opinion, it could be either vitamin deficiency or too few carbs.  Eat more carbs for a few days - healthy ones,of course - and see if it clears up.  Meanwhile, make an appt for blood draws.

If it clears up with more carbs, then just know that you need a few more carbs than what you had planned.  Eating 45 carbs/ day or 50 carbs/day might mean you lose 8.5 lbs in a week instead of 9 lbs, but that's a small price to pay for your brain to work well.  Work with your nutritionist to find a way to get the carbs you need and still lose every single pound you want to lose.

But note that I say this as a pre-op person and that I have no actual medical expertise.

Well, there's no 8 or 9 pounds losses per week going on with me.  I'm in the 1.5-2 pounds per week range.  Did more carbs for 10 days and lost nothing, so I'm scared of this.
