Day 2 done, I think I am in shock
Well, everything went fine with the surgery, and I am home now. Post-op day two is almost over. I think I might be in shock. I don't regret it. I just think it is going to take a while to get used to this. I kind of need a big cry to get out all of the stress. But, it's not something I can do on command.
I'm looking forward to trying some new foods tomorrow. Apple sauce sounds kind of nice. Or maybe just a bite of smooth diet yogurt.
Will this cramping and gurgling go away soon? I hope so. I assume this is normal. In the mean time, I am taking very tiny sips of water and chicken broth. Also, I am sleeping a lot (but that is good).

Every single day should get better. That is how it was for me. For a while I felt like someone had beat me up. Then I just felt wiped out tired. Take it slow and remember FLUIDS. Get a minimum of 48oz in and start trying to increase that. So many people dehydrate. In that first week I had a lot of broth to help with intake and tried to add protein powder to my broths to get the protein in too.
Walk, sip, sleep. You will do well.

Congrats on your surgery. the gurgling will be helped with a ppi but it does stop. I know there are a lot of different programs out there but day 3 being allowed yogurt or applesauce is somewhat unusual. But like i said they are all different. It seems that most have a week of liquids, then a week of full liquids.
That's kinda why i mentioned it. I had anesthesia brain for a minute after surgery and i kept having to keep checking on stuff i thought i knew. It was an interesting time to say the least. I remember one Monday waking up convinced i was on a week further out. I do think that one was wishful thinking, better food.
I'm only about a week ahead of you (10 days post-op) but I remember wondering the same thing about the emotions in those early days, and also about the cramping & gurgling.
In the beginning, even a tiny sip of lukewarm water would cause my stomach to cramp. Now I can take a couple of sips together without it happening, although I still get cramps sometimes from the protein shakes.
The cream soups, served warm, seem to work well for me. I found the one that I like the best and that I tolerate the best is Campbell's Green Pea.
From everything I've read, it is too soon at 3 days post-op to be adding pureed foods like applesauce or yogurt. I would check w/ your doctor or his staff.
So, yes, the cramping & gurgling will get better. For me, each day is easier. Hang in there.

I checked all of the materials my Dr's staff gave me. I found a take-home sheet from the hospital that says only broth, water, SF jello, SF popsickles, and 1 protein drink per day for days 3-7. I have looked at the booklet they gave me. I am wondering if it is for everyone. Because this seems more like what you might give a lap-band patient. So, I am sticking with the week of clear liquids. I feel much more comfortable with the clear liquids. And they are easier to take if they are a little warm.
The cramping is a little bit better today. I am trying to take tiny sips, so that I don't set them off.
What is PPI? I'm not familiar with that term.
Thanks for all of the great suggestions. It really helps a lot.
