I started drinking at two months post op and still enjoyed a fast weight loss during the rest of my 6th month post op honeymoon period.  Since then it has been slower, which is expected.  Would it maybe be a little faster if I didn't drink any alcohol at all?  Maybe.  But I enjoy it and it's my one vice.

When I drank the first few times it would hit me faster, but then go away pretty fast, too.  But now it seems to work like it did before surgery.

I have drank twice since surgery. Once was a glass of wine. It didn't affect me. But I also drank about twice as much water along with it.

The second time I drank Rum. About 8 ounces over the course of 2 days. Never got drunk or even buzzed. Of course we were literally walking all over downtown Atlanta those 2 days (Dragoncon) and so i figured I sweated out almost as much as I took in. Also drinking water and protein drinks all day along with it. But it did seem to slow down my weight loss for about a week. At least that's what I blamed it on. I haven't had any since and don't want it.

I decided to give up alcohol for the first 6 months of the sleeve, a big part of that being that wine is a food trigger for me.  I'm a pairer.  having said that though i had a lap band and i gave it up for the first 6 months but then i drank.  it did not slow my weight loss in fact my weight loss increased (it probably took 6 months to get to perfect restriction) but that is when i noticed it triggered food stuff also, i only like to drink with food so no liquid with meals I'm not sure how that will work. But i do miss the social aspect.

I'm three and a half months out from surgery and I drink no less or more than I did before surgery. I'll have my occasional scotch or some Irish cream if I feel like a treat. The important factor you need to understand is that it can go to your head a lot quicker when you have such a small stomach. So, all I can say is that make sure you stay safe, have a designated driver, and realize that some people get wasted after one drink post-op.

Thanks everybody for your input! Some very good points to consider. I'll definitely discuss this with my surgeon at my pre-op visit.

I am over a year out now and I do indulge occasionally.  I have found that it doesn't take much at all and I have a really good buzz.  My hubby calls me a cheap drunk now. LOL!
