I've experienced this too, and it is heartbreaking.  I'm so sorry.  I hope your visit with him will be better than anticipated, and that it turns out that his progression will be much slower than it seems now.  Be good to yourself, and absolutely still go to your event.  Hugs.

Hi Heidi,

I completely understand what you and your family are going through...my dad is 83 and has a form of dementia called lewy bodies dementia. Essentially he has both Parkinson's and dementia at the same time and both are linked to abnormal seratonin levels - so treat one and it makes the other worse. It's very sad, to say the least.

My dad also has been having violent episodes and has been acting out inapproprately. We're not sure what is going to happen and my mom is doing the best she can with him. They live about an hour away so between work and stuff going on at my home it's been hard for me to physically be there to support her.

Hopefully your dad - and mine - will be able to get the treatment and dignity that they deserve. Big hugs to you!

I'm so sorry, Heidi.  I don't have any experience or advice, but wanted you to know I'm thinking of you and your family as you travel this road.
