downside to olives??
Pros- Super low calorie, little to zero carbs
Cons - No protein, very little to zero nutritional value in ways of any vitamins per daily recommended value
When I choose "snacks", I really do try to pick things that are somewhat nutrient and/or somewhat protein dense. Choosing something that gave me a few more protein grams or something that has some sort of iron, vitamin A or D in it, was my attempt to at least get in more nutrition.

Are you calculating how much protein you are getting in per day? If you are meeting your protein goal and every snack includes some protein then I don't think this is a bad idea, but one of the issues with us as WLS patients is that we have so little room for food now that we have to make the most out of every meal. Skipping meals or filling up on useless calories usually means that we are depriving ourselves of something essential we do need. So the answer is to be sure that your basic needs are being met first.
Hi Paige, I just wanted to let you know I was reviewing my post op diet rules and olives are listed as allowed in the healthful fats category. Black olives = 8 large & green olives = 10 large per serving. My plan allows two servings of healthful fats per day. This stage of diet starts as early as 4 weeks post op.
I'm not saying it's okay for you to have them as I do not know your specific plan info. But I was reading that and remembered your posting this and thought I'd share what my plan said about it!
As always, it's best to check with your dietician!
