What gives with all the burping?

It is something that happens to all sleevers, I am one of three in my family and we burp like crazy. I think it may have to do with the shape of your stomach, you get more back pressure. When you put stuff in it the pressure pushes back out and you burp a lot. I burp when I drink, when I don't drnk, when I eat and when I don't eat so for me has nothing to do with being full. It is funny.
I can do it, I can do it, chugga, chugga, chugga said the little train! Thank you Lord for giving me the strength!

I have had the burps, hiccups and gurgles since day one. Almost 4 weeks post op now. It's worse when I eat or drink also. I have noticed when its related to eating too fast. But it happens anytime. So annoying.

I'm 7 months post op and still burp.  My husband thinks I'm sneaking beer!!
I don't know how to stop it, but I have learned how to burp quietly when in the presence of company.

I hope you can find a solution, and when you do, please share!

I guess I should add that it just feels so darned good to get it out. I'm thinking the more our sleeves mature the better it will be? Wishful thinking, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Here's to you May (raising my beer mug). lol

It's normal to swallow some air when we eat or drink---but after surgery, there's so much less SPACE for it, so we burp. I'm nearly eight years post-DS, and I STILL burp, but not nearly as often. It's both my 'full' signal AND my 'must eat soon' signal. (And that I CAN'T explain, I just know that when the burping starts on an empty stomach, it's time to start looking for food!)

As your Sleeve matures, the burping SHOULD back off some.

It DOES feel good to let it out!!  And raising my mug to too my sleeve sister!!  (except I can't drink beer or soda because the bubbles make my tummy hurt, so let's pretend! - haha!)

I'm not sleeved yet waiting for my date but I had burping with the lap band like crazy. Chammomile tea seemed to help with it, also some Gas-X here and there. It was crazy; I's start eating and then start burping and of course would get the hiccups. I sounded like a one woman band!

I'm 4.5 weeks out, and I don't burp. (I probably burp LESS now than before being sleeved because I no longer drink Diet Coke.)

However, I do hiccup some, and the gurgling is loud & frequent!

It's better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you're not.

I'm over a year post-op and still have that problem. Mine is a little different....I cannot full blown burp. I have tons of little "gurgles" that still happen when I eat/drink or out of the blue. I don't take my PPI anymore, but it happened just as much then as it does now. I figured it is because we have an altered digestive tract...I am learning to live with it.  FYI: Soda makes it worse!

Funny story: I was late making it to the realtors office and HAD to get something to drink. The cooler right inside this gas station had miniture cans of soda and I grabbed one and payed quickly without getting my change and left. Drank a few sips before going into his office and then it hit me: I am going to be burping like crazy for the next hour. Long story short, I tried my hardest to keep the burps in and finally he said to me "you don't  have to hide your gurgles" (and he said gurgles!  lol)......I looked at him with a puzzled look and he said " I had weight loss surgery too, 8 years ago, and I still get the gurgles".....LMAO I was floored....so from my point of view, its still here and also from a 8 year post-op RNY success, he still has it too. Learn to live with it girly!
