Insurance Question

I have two insurance providers, one from one parent, one from the other, (I'm a college student) and I went to get a physical yesterday that was non wls related. I was talking with one of the nurses about the 6 month diet and all of the visits, and she made a comment about not paying co-pays. She said that my primary insurance should cover my visits, and my secondary should coer the co-pays for the visit. Does anyone know if this is true? It would be lovely if I didn't have to pay co-pays, because they are sucking this broke kid dry!

Hmmm. That doesnt sound right. My sis has two insurances (she just turned 18) and she still has to pay copays at all her preop visits. You should call both insurances to verify. Now Im calling to see if we can reimbursed if it does hold true.
Im hoping it does... lol
Good luck

We do this with our 2 separate insurances. The main one covers the visits and the alternate covers the copays. I just give both insurance cards to my doctor's offices and they make it work. We've never paid copays for visits, only for procedures/medications. I'm also a college student and I would surely go broke without doing it that way! Ask your dr's office. :)

I bill alot of insurances where I work. Some insurances are DED and some are copays. I have seen a few that the secondary will pay the primary copays, but other who dont.
I have 2 insurances myself. My primary is a DED and secondary is a copay. O alway get stuck paying my secondarys copays.
Call them and they can tell ya how it will work for ya

Good luck

Heads up.  Just make sure you know which should be primary.  If the docs office files the wrong one first,  it causes a mess.

This is generally how it will work. But be an advocate for yourself and know A. which one is primary and 2 (or B) how much your secondary covers. Hopefully it covers the entire co pay but just in the case that it doesn't you are totally aware.

Thanks for the information everyone! I just emailed my patient advocate the question and I'm waiting for the response. Praying for good news!
