Going to tell my PCP Monday
That I am going to Mexico for surgery on November 10th.
Hope she is supportive!!! I need her to check and see if the anti-biotics that I too for H-Pylori worked.
I had it 2 years ago this December. I never really thought aboit it until people were mentioning it on her a few days ago. I know the blood test will still show a pos. for a while so it my have to be a stool sample (Ewww).
Wish me luck !! I hope she will do my follow up blood work after surgery as well.
I really don't want her to say she won't treat me after......fingers crossed.

My bariatric surgeon told my PCP, who then mentioned it to my husband when he went in to have his blood levels checked. It actually was a good thing, because she calmed his fears and he was much more supportive after visiting with her. She told my DH that it is the only WLS she recommends because there is not the issues with malabsorption and the complication rate is so much lower than other WLS. I haven't talked to her yet, but she was very supportive.
My PCP has been really supportive. He told me that he doesn't care if the surgeon does his own blood work, he wants to see me every month for at least the first 3 months to do his own blood work and keep an eye on my progress. Gonna have a lot of needle pokes, but I'm okay with that.
I like having both of them and my own nurse for 6 mos post-op (provided by my insurance) to go to with questions.
I sure am thankful for the awesome insurance we have.

OMG!!! I am so nervous too. I inquired about the surgery with my doc over a month ago, but haven't told him yet that I am also going to Mexico in January. I won't see him till Novermber, but I hope he won't be upset and refuse to work with me either. He has been the only doc so far to help me and diagnose my adrenal fatigue, and fertility issues, where the others just said I was lucky, or depressed. Doctors are soo hard to come by, and I would hate to start all over again, if he refused to do my follow up care.
I'm crossing my fingers and toes for you!!! Good luck!
