HI I just had my sleeve done on Tuesday the 11th and today I am starting to feel as if I am gaining weight! Things that I felt before I am not feeling right now   I was wondering if anyone else has felt like they gained weight after surgery? I am sip sip sip and walk walk walking  and I am still on full liquids so I don't understand why I would feel this way.  any help I would really appreciate it

thank you

Please take a deep breath!  You are not gaining weight.  You are probably bloated, full of the I.V. fluids and the gasses they pumped into your belly.  Also, you are healing and you are going to feel some weird feelings for a while as you get used to your new tummy.  Whatever you do, do not step on the scale.

thank you that much I am trying to stay off of at least for right now I don't want to actually get on a scale until I see my doctor for the followup visit so that I can be even more happier when I see my new number   but as for the bloated feeling I thought that had left when I started to be able to turn and bend a lil better now I am back to not being able to move as well and was getting so worried. Didn't know I would still be batteling the gasses and fluids yet. Thank you for answering I really appreaciate it thanks and God Bless

Truth time: I did gain "weight" post-op but it was just fluid bloating and when it came off (hello bathroom) it came off suddenly and quickly - I didn't have to lose it again like it was fat or something.

You may just be bloated and puffy, it happens often post-op. Now is not the time to worry about weight as eager as you are. Now's the time to worry about healing. The post-op bloating will take care of itself, I promise.

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

This may be unrelated, but I know I get a panicky feeling when I get "full" and feel like I overate. I don't like to eat to feeling full for this reason (and others). I have to remind myself how little it takes to make me feel full.

Most ppl do gain weight from surgery, it is swelling and water. It's okay it took a while for it to go away. I got on the scale and freaked so do not get on scale and not to worry. What happens o a lot of ppl is that the scale does not catch up to the weight you are losing. I know I
am getting smaller can feel it and tell by my clothes but sometimes that scale will not show it. Sometimes it takes a few weeks. I am not going to worry about it cause no way I can eat enough to gain weight or not lose. I eat good hlthy high protein foods and sooner or later it will pay off. Good luck to you and know you are normal and not to worry!
I can do it, I can do it, chugga, chugga, chugga said the little train! Thank you Lord for giving me the strength!
