Am I normal? Weight loss trend question
Ok so here are my stats:
Started out:
surgery: Aug 4, 2011
Weight: 256
Height: 5'2"
age: 20
First month: -31.5 lbs
second month: -6 lbs
Third month (so far, actually ends 11/4): -5.5 lbs
I'm just shy of having lost 45 pounds and my 3 month surgiversary is in a little over a week. Is this basically how you guys are doing? I'm feeling a little discouraged that it's not going fast but I think I'm making rookie mistakes- not enough protein, too many carbs. I am exercising and I do get enough water. But overall, is this were everyone else is/was when they were this far out?

First of all - you're doing GREAT! Secondly, it's VERY important to remember that everyone loses differently. EVERYONE and all the time...none of us lose the same way. The fact that you're losing means you're doing things right. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll keep seeing great results. Think of it this way...when was the last time you lost 45 lbs in less than 3 months.
Keep your chin up...you are doing fine!

I had my surgery on 2/22/11 (nearly nine months ago) and finally 47 pounds gone so compared to me you are doing FANTASTIC!!!!
Keep it up and I also encourage you to log your intake. I use MyFitnessPal on my PC and on my phone. I love it!!! It has reporting capabilities so you can view the past and pinpoint possible problems with yor diet.
Best wishes on the weight loss journey!

Remember that everyone loses at different rates and your body will tell you what is right. Go back to the basics where you tracked everything you put in your mouth, you have to be honest. This will give you a record of what your eating and figure out how to tweak your diet. As for exercise, I learned this is the key to my success.
the scale was not moving as quickly as before these past 3 weeks, averaging only 2 lbs a week. I realize this is still progress but I'm used to more. I checked my fit bit log and realized that I was working more and exercising less. Last week, I ampped up the exercise and the weight came off. I try to do cardio 6 times a week but I am happy if I get it in on 4 days and weight training is 2 days a week, 3 if I can find the time and energy.
I'll be thinking of you and waiting to hear back.
Don't overlook your current success, 45 LBs in 3 months is great.

chelle

Everyone loses at a different rate.
Here is what I recommend. Do this for 2 weeks then let us know what happens :)
- Track EVERYTHING you eat
- Make sure that you hit your protein and water goal EVERY day (my protein goal is 60, water goal is 64)
- For EVERY meal and snack, eat your protein first. Eat it slowly. Eat your carbs ONLY after you have eaten your protein, and ONLY if you have room in your tummy.
- Do not graze! Eat only at your assigned meal and snack time. For me, I eat every 3-4 hours.
- Move every day! Even if it's just for a 30 minute walk :)
