So its a lil over 6 months for me and I totally thought I would be rocking this sleeve dont get me wrong I feel great and Im starting to feel like I look good but to be honest I thought I would be down alot more than what I am....Its my own fault that I am not losing more and I have no one to blame but myself. This I understand...The last 5 months have been awful for me and I have turned to beer....I know!!! I know!!! I am a big girl and I really dont need to be lectured. I will eventually gain the strength to get thru my troublesome times...I dont want pity and I dont want lectured just maybe a little insight on how to handle things with out alcohol. Thanks everyone Have a wonderful night Love you all at ObesityHelp.....

just wanted to say transfer addiction does happen, whether it be going from food to beer or gambling, or sex, or drugs.

you arent the first. there are therapists for that and i imagine the sooner you get help the better.

good luck on your journey.

Do you have any friends you can talk with about the things that are troubling you? If not, maybe you can come here and share your problems and get advice or the hugs that you need. I hope things get better for you soon.

Congrats on your loss...

Get into therapy with a counselor/therapist who specializes in transfer addiction. It's very common post-WLS, when the ability to eat stresses, problems, issues, alcohol and other drugs are common outlets.

You'll need to find other coping mechanisms, and skills to manage and navigate through life stressors.

First let me say that you look wonderful and 88 pounds in 6 months is amazing progress.  I hope I can do so well!
Now lets talk about the alcohol.  If you think alcohol is a problem, It probably is a problem.  You have worked so hard to lose weight and improve your health it would be awful to transfer your food addiction to alcohol.
I'm not sure what has been so difficult in the past 5 months, but I'm sorry you've had a hard time.  I think counseling with a bariatric psycholgist or one who specializes in food issues would be really helpful.  You need to get help with whatever is hurting you so badly that you need alchol to make you feel better.  I think an AA meeting might also be a good idea.
I want you to know that I do support you but skipping over the alcohol issue would not be in your best interest.
It's to late to fix what you may have done wrong in the past few months but you can start over starting now.  Take it one day at a time or one hour at a time, but take good care of yourself.  You deserve it.  Making a change so big is scary.  I've gotten to 215 several times and fear of being smaller sent me back to the kitchen and up to 275 pounds.  We have to feel  our feelings and face our issues to really get healthy.  Using food or alcohol to cover them up only hurts us.
I hope I'm not upsetting you.  I want you to have the best possible life.  Good luck.
