I posted yesterday about horrible constipation and pain.  It got better last night then today at work went haywire.  Was in the bathroom crying and hyperventilating.  Ended up leaving work early and coming home and crying.  Made an appointment with my GI dr. tomorrow and ended up taking the Loritab I got after surgery which is helping tremendously with the pain.  Wish I could live on this stuff.

Hoping the dr. gives me cream and it'll be done and over with.

Just FYI pain meds can cause constipation. I add some Benefiber and Mg to my diet and that has helped to avoid constipation. Also have been working in veggies. Sorry for your pain.

thanks for the reply, i know they can cause constipation, but i was at my wits end.  i really didn't know what else to do.  i've only taken them twice after surgery (the 1st 2 days home) and then on saturay and today for the constipation.  i think what's causing it is the protein only diet right now.  trying to incorporate more fruits/veggies but afte rmy 2oz. of protein i'm completely full.  eating pears tonight since they are full of fiber.  i also started adding metamucil into my protein shakes and started miralax.  tried milk of magnesia a few times but it's way too strong and then i can only go if i take it.  tried a mineral oil enema today (tmi sorry) but didn't work too well.  hopefully dr can help me.

I suffered with constipation a lot preop so trying to avoid it post op. Benefiber, Metamucil, Miralax all help. You can take Mg supplements (pills) - no taste and they really do help. The pills are large so I usually split them in half since I am only 2 weeks post op.  They are cheap and Mg helps with Calcium absorption so take when you take your calcium (and Vit D too).

Once you get things sorted out- try Vitalady's Tender Cal/Mg/D3 capsules.. we need about 8 a day or so to hit 1200mg elemental cal citrate, but they have added magnesium in there.. and they made me very regular, actually a little too much- so I needed to get some plain cal citrate and do half & half.. The Mg makes a big diff, before that I was on Miralax 1/2 dose every other day.. I still take my Benefiber.
