Hang in there!  I'm on day 5 of a 10 day pre-op liquid diet and the only time I struggle now is if I'm around food, so I told my hubby he has to go grocery shopping from now on and he tries to eat dinner away from me.  I had headaches the first few days, but since about day 3 or 4, I haven't had any issues, though yes, I miss food sometimes.

I was at a training today and successfully resisted the lunch and cookies.  It was so tough to watch everyone else have a cookie.  I just kept telling myself it was not worth it - I needed to be safe for surgery.  Funny thing was, I had just had my protein shake, so wasn't even hungry.

Keep focused on whatever your motivation is that will work for you - your mantra, so to speak.  It's just temporary.  Sometimes I think of AA's motto of "one day at a time."  And I also tell myself that I CHOOSE not to eat that, not that I can't.  For some reason, the word choice makes a difference to my brain.

GOOD LUCK!

We share a surgery date and I had to do liquids for 2 weeks. Last week it was bad but this week it seems to be better.  I just stay focused and remember what my goals are. I also agree about saying I don't want over I can't have is a better way to look at it.

Good luck to you and we should stay in touch.

I know there are better things to come!! It is all worht it! I think I need to add more water and I am going to change up my protein shake and add another one of those too....I only have one a day...I need to have more I think  so I can be more "full" I think when I am "satisfied" I dont think about the food as much. I thank yall sooo much for all your support :)

The trick for me was to keep something going in my mouth almost all the time and to never let myself get hungry.  Little hunger pang?  Slug down another shake, another cup of soup, another popsicle, another thingie of jello, tea, Crystal LIght ... anything I was allowed.  Glug glug glug.  I sloshed when I walked, and I almost peed myself to death, but it worked!   Best wishes :-)

I am on day 3 of the diet also.  I have to be on it 2 weeks.  We are allowed 2 shakes 4 ozs of protein and 1/2 cup vegys  2 sf jello 2 cups of broth and 2 sf popsicles.  The first day was the hardest.  Its still not easy though.

on mine, I can have all the broth, tomato soup, sf popsicles..anything that does not have chunks or have to be chewed...I think we will all have a hard time when anything is restricted!! Today was better...I had 2 protein shakes, 3 tomato soup at hands and chicken broth....I am trying to  make sure I do not let myself get hungry but it seems I am ALWAYS hungry!! I would kill for one bite of food!!! It sucks that you are limited on the amounts of stuff u can have but feel glad u get to chew some food LOL....
