Food Funeral, anyone?
Hey Tee, I had a food massacre, followed by a food wake.
I actually planned out those things that I was afraid I would miss. Pizza, Chinese Buffet, Seafood Buffet, 5 course meals with friends, BUT, I limited each them to one time during the 5 months before my surgery. Each time I realized that the things I thought I loved about these things was mostly the relief of bordom, or the socilization. Only a few came down to needing quantity for enjoyment. I really used these meals to learn about myself and prepare for the mind change required to be successful. The last month I was very careful and I didn't break the livershrinking 2 week diet once. Also during this time I upped my exercise to offset the calories. I lost 50 pounds pre-op and got my stamina up. I really think this helped make my surgery easier and that was my number 1 goal. Goal number 2 was to change my mindset. I'm happy to say that 1 and 2 were successful and I enjoyed the food funerals along the way. Enjoy!
p.s. My last one was a truffle burger with Foie Gras and a great Belgium beer. It was terrific!

I had planned something of this nature before my surgery too. I love the calimari appitizers with veggies at Red Lobster. But it was funny when I got to the restaurant I ended up ordering a half portion with a healthy meal... I didnt even go for my fav ice cream before the surgery. I guess I felt so good about the weight I had lost so far. I didnt miss that sicky over stuffed feeling when eating the heavy unhealth meal. Besides I figure its not like I can never have that stuff again, I will just eat alot less of it and I will save money too.... I have changed alot of things in my life to feel better and be healther. i dont need food to fill some imagined void within myself. I am good the way I am and I am improving on that too....
I did not have funerals for food really I just said goodbye to them. A funeral means that you will miss and grieve them but in reality I have never missed the big meals that I used to eat. I s=can still have most of them just in very reduced quantities. The only thing that I have to give up is cream and icecream and that is because of the effect it has on my bowels.
Yes I am planning one..... Trying to get some ideas here. I plan on doing two big events, one with my kids and the other with a couple of good friends.
It will be doing my most favorite foods and treats Because I dont wanna get sick and I want to be happy, gonna try to see if I can do it over a period of days, three day weekend presumably

Yes, indeed I had several food funerals. I love Indian, Thai and Greek food so my husband and I went to our favorite restaurants the few days before I started my pre-op diet. I will say that it was not as exciting as I would have thought it to be. I came to the realization that I really do not care about food as much I as thought I did. I think my mind is set on this surgery and living healthy. Each time we ate my husband kept telling me to order more dishes and I didn't because I really did not want to. I guess I am not really grieving food but looking forward to my new journey. I also can't say that I am hating the pre-op diet. I like it other than I have not gone to the bathroom in days and am worried about constipation.
Please do yourself a favor and get on colase or miralax NOW. You don't want the constipation to turn into an event (take my word for it).
