wonderfully delicious little snacks a bad idea?

I'll tell you something I learned the hard way during my losing phase.  Simply put, higher carbs stalled or slowed my weight loss, even when I was staying within my overall calorie limitation, which was usually 600-800 cals.  There's something about how my body metabolizes carbs that causes it to use carbs for energy, and store everything else I eat.  (I've also read that carbs require higher fluid requirements for storage, so some of that slowdown/stall could have been from fluid.)

Another thing, and edelu referred to it too.  For me, eating carbs sets up cravings for carbs.  That may or may not be true for you, but if it is, careful.  It's a carby slippery slope.

Finally, 500 cal. per day seems on the low side, although I don't remember how far out you are.  You might consider upping your protein levels and get to the 600-800 per day level.
