April!!!???
Well I finally got to see my surgeon today. Everything is okay for me to get the surgery and they say well we have no OR time till April, but we can't put anyone in so call the first day we're open in January and we'll try to schedule you for then. I don't have a choice I have to take it. That's not true my choices are wait till April or don't have the surgery. I can't afford to self-pay and a MTF is the only place I can have a VSG done.
I'm on a waiting list so there is a slim chance I could get called earlier but without a firm date it is very hard for my husband to take the week off. I've lost 20+lbs with the idea that I'd have a Feb date, probably about the longest I've ever been able to maintain a weight loss. Now I have to keep this weight loss till April like this is some sort of easy thing. If it was easy I wouldn't be getting the bloody surgery. I really want to tell them to go **** themselves (this office has screwed me over so many times) but the only person I'd really be hurting is myself.
I'm just so pissed!

Suggestion - call and ask if they have some sort of wait list they can put you on. Obviously, you'd need enough time to do all the pre-op stuff, but if someone cancels and you have enough time, you might be able to get in earlier.
My initial consult with my doc wasn't until the end of November (Notice my surgery date of 10/18
).
I was able to get in and see the doc, do all of his requirements and have my surgery in just under one month. I'm one of the lucky ones with awesome insurance and no pre-op required 6 month diet.
It's worth asking, imo.
Good luck.

Oh I'm on the list but from previous experience being on that list that you tend to have less than 1 weeks notice. You also can't say give me a minute to make calls. They call offer you a date, you so yes or no right there or they move to the next person. Unfortunately, due to my husbands job, I'll need more than that. I'm of course going to stay on the list but I don't hold out much hope.

Not if I want a VSG.

On the positive side you can get through the holidays feeling good, and April will be here before you know it. I wish I had had my surgery in the spring b/c with the nice weather it is so much easier to exercise. I am 6 weeks out and have been walking outside but now have to find an alternative since it is getting cold. I know it sucks - I wanted to have surgery the month after my consult and was amazed that they were booked! Just think how good you will look and feel at this time next year. Use this time to get yourself into a good exercise routine if you havent already.
