Because the last week hasn't been crappy enough we just found out my husband will deploy for a year this summer.  Luckily it will be after by April surgery.  I guess he'll get a helluva surprise when he comes home to half a wife.

Totally sucks! ! ! BUT, I can tell you from experience that homecoming will be absolutely awesome.

John was deployed when I had my revision. I'd dropped 80lbs upon his return and he walked right past me at the airport. He had minimal computer access and we went sometimes 30 something days without any calls or emails so we never exchanged pictures during that time.

I told him it'll be like cheating!  He'll have this completely new body to explore ;)  He will get to come home at the 6 month mark so it won't be quite as much of a shock but it'll still be pretty big.

Very likely it will be a huge shock at the 6 month mark.  You and I have similar starting weights... I'm just shy of 6 months out and have lost over 75% of my excess weight already.  You could very likely look like a different person and he may walk by you in the airport like Tiff!

Sorry about the deployment though... thanks to you and him for doing great things for our country!

I know all about deployments! Just think about how much fun it will be to see his face when he finally sees you and then how great it will feel when he wraps his arms around your now smaller body!

In all seriousness, I've gone through several deployments with my hubby so if you EVER need support you let me know and I'll be right there. Sometimes we just have to vent a little.. cry a little... laugh a lot.

This is far from our first deployment but it's the first one in a while.  He regularly goes TDY for up to 3 months though.  Right now he's gone till the 23rd.  Thanks for the offer of support.  It'll be weird as this is the first time I'l llive on a military post during a deployment though it is AF so I won't get any support.  They pretty much offered us any CONUS assignment on his return so I'll spend the first 6 months trying to decide where I want to go next!

He asked for this deployment but they told him no then they called out of the blue yesterday, it was a bit of a shock.

I do think it'll be fun for him to see the new me for the first time.  I just hope I don't kill my daughter and land in jail while he's gone.

Wow what an awsome suprise to be for your returning husband next year! MY husband is in the military as well and we are on shore duty right now so he cant deploy till these orders are up in 2 years, the good news at least he will be able to be with you for the actual surgery and immediate recovery!
