??? about eating too much

I was drinking a protein smoothie this morning. After a while I got the drooling sensation like you get right before you throw up. Is this the slimies that everyone talks about? I didn't think I drank that much of it but maybe I did. It also happened tonight at the end of dinner. For dinner I had 3 oz of meat with a fork full of mashed potatoes.

I am 6 weeks out this week and still trying to figure out what works and what doesn't!

3 oz of protein plus a little extra might be a little high based upon 6 weeks out.  If you're like most of us were pre-op, eating too fast can be a bad habit to break.  If you push too much food before you realize your sleeve is full, it can cause pretty significant discomfort or even sliming/vomiting.

At my 6-week mark I was still at around 2 oz of dense protein at a time, and sometimes it was even tough to get that down.  I would slow down a little, chew thoroughly and make sure you're listening to the signals your sleeve sends you.  I would recommend measuring religiously and purposely "undereat" your sleeve to avoid stuffing yourself and feeling miserable for an hour following.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Right before I get "Stuffed" my noes will start to run and then I know to stop eating.  I was trowing up all the time.  After test doc and I came to the fact I was eating to much.  I bought I food scale.  I can only eat 2oz of food was eating 5/6 oz..  I think I read some were that you should only eat 2oz (1/4 cup) of food at each meal. That is the Slimies. What also helped me is to know how big my new tummy is.  It is a wide as a Sharpie Marker. (36F Bouige). Hope this helps, just remember to chew and eat small bites.
Oh Yeah if the shake is thick that to will make it come back up or for you to have the Slimies.

Thanks for confirming!! It didn't hit me this morning that I probably had too much of the smoothie until later. I will also cut down on my protein portion. I did weigh it so I know it was exactly 3 oz.. Trying to get the 60 grams of protein in can be tough. Everyday I learn a little bit more though!

There's a pretty standard rule of no drinking within 30 minutes of a meal. And a protein smoothie is sort of less than eating but more than drinking so I'd wait at least an hour after a meal to have one.

This is a process - figuring it out can be trial and error. As long as you're learning from your mistakes, which it seems you are, you'll be fine.
