HAVE a wonderful vacation and a Merry, Merry Christmas!!
I'll be going back for my 4th trip to Maui in July. If you are renting a car, these are the things I like to do there:
1. Road to Hana - best drive ever! (Not to disagree with anyone else here, but NOT DANGEROUS at all. I've driven it several times and love it!)
2. Snorkel at Honolua Bay. We found it by accident. Was the best time!!!!
3. Drive down the far south end of Kehei, to the lava flow. Gorgeous and really cool to see...
4. Many folks rave about Mama's Fishhouse. We went. Was under impressed with the food for the money. (To be fair, I don't like seafood... so just let me say that up front) Cool setting, cool beach, cool atmosphere... but HIGHLY over priced for the food you get.
5. Instead, I would recommend Stella Blues in Kehei, and for seafood go to Hula Grill in Ka'Anapali. Much better food, much cheaper.
6. Take time to just see the sights. We sat for a while and watched the wind surfers... Really neat. Also just take the time to check it all out.
Enjoy your trip. You will love it.
