Armchair doctors - want to diagnose me? :)
I am waiting to get in to see my surgeon, so in the meantime, I'll throw out my symptoms here and see if anyone has any thoughts.
- Rather serious pain on my right side, right under my ribcage. It's been going on fairly continuously since last Thursday. At its high, it was about a six on the pain scale, at its low (and most common), it's about a three. There have been times where I've forgotten about the pain, but mostly, it's just hanging around.
- I had a full abdominal u/s at the hospital on Friday morning which showed no gallstones, no areas of concern.
- Over the weekend, the pain was very mild, but it has since gotten worse.
- No nausea, vomiting, stool/digestion issues, does not get worse with certain foods, does not seem to matter if I have an empty stomach or a full stomach. No fevers, chills, or anything else. I'm not sick at all (no cold, flu, etc).
- I'm eating and drinking fine, am not experiencing any other symptoms except this very localized pain. It does not radiate to my back or anywhere else.
Any thoughts? Ideas? I have grown rather tired of this pain. :)

I have not had any lab work done, no. I've got a call in to my surgeon - I didn't hear from him after the u/s and I think his assumption was that since the u/s was fine, so was I. :) But it's my fault for not pursuing it! By Monday, I was feeling much better, but when the pain started up again last night, I thought, shoot, this isn't going away on its own.
I am so sorry you are going through pain. I don't really know what it could be, of course gall bladder or kidney stones are my first thoughts, but your symptoms are not really in line with this diagnosis. I am sure your doctor will rule both out. When are you seeing your surgeon? I hope sooner rather than later to stop the pain. So sorry.
You know, I have thought about both the hida scan test and a pulled muscle. If it's a pulled muscle, I can't think of which one it would be! It definitely feels more internal, but it's odd since it's not affecting any of my digestion, etc.
I have a friend whose u/s was clear but the hida scan showed her gallbladder was blocked on both ends by sludgey stuff, and she had to have it removed. Still odd, though, that the pain is my only symptom.
Thanks!

Just a suggestion as I don't know how old you are but you definately look young enough to be having female problems. My first thought was kidney stones...but maybe you are having some female issues? Did/do you have PCOS? Is it kinda in the uterus area or more to the side/back area? Kidney stones are a SOB...I'm pretty sure they show up on ultra sounds though. Very odd...especially being as far out as you are.
Edited to add: along the kidney stone idea...is your urine discolored, different smelling or cloudy at all? I know...gross, but a good sign of kidney infection/stones.

Thanks Kate! I'm 41, creeping very close to 42. No, this pain is much higher than the uterine area, it's right up under my rib cage on the right side. I have almost wondered if it's like a muscle or tendon or cartilige or something or 'nother, since I'm not having other internal-type problems.
And nope, no funky pee or pee-related pain! :)
Thanks! :)
