Armchair doctors - want to diagnose me? :)

My gall bladder symptoms were severe pain under the right ribcage.  My first ultrasound showed nothing. The second showed lots of stones, and I had it removed.  I don't know if they did that other test you mentioned back when I had mine out (24 years ago) but they didn't offer it to me then.  And the surgery was open with a 6 day hospital stay back then.  Big ouch.

Hopefully you will get this figured out soon and taken care of.

Eeek - a six day hospital stay?? I am pretty sure it's an overnight stay now w/ laproscopic surgery, boy, that would be a miserable hospital stay! Thanks!

Just a quick update, I am having a HIDA scan in the morning, and my doctor called in a couple prescriptions for me an anti-stomach-acid and a stomach coater in the meantime. I'm glad to be getting it done - although this pain is totally manageable, I am very concerned about it worsening and landing myself in the ER or hospital on Christmas morning, eeek!

Thanks for all your input and good wishes!

It could be an injury of some sort to your diaphragm. My sister-in-law had that; very painful, but it usually heals itself after a couple of weeks. They gave her pain medicine and a muscle relaxant.

I had similar pain a few months ago and it turns out I pulled the muscle that attaches to the lower rib and it felt absolutely internal, but alas it was a "sprained" muscle from a hard sneeze.

Oh Debra, thanks!! More than anything I am hoping that's what it is. It does get worse when I sleep on that side, and I did have occasion for an oddball injury the night before it started hurting. Fingers crossed!!
