Is liquid ibuprofen a no no after surgery? I just know that after all of my other surgeries I've every had ( gall bladder, c sections) and any time I've had a root canal....... Ibuprofen helped me so much more than lortab due to the fact that it helped with swelling.

Ibuprofen is def a NO NO ....I have been told any NSAID or anti inflammatory is off limits

I'ts only a no no soon after your surgery. One of the reasons I opted for the VSG was there was no restrictions on NSAIDS.
I have had the sorest throat for days and extra strength tylenol isn't cutting it. But I have to wait til I see my team on Wed this week to ask when it is I can safely take NSAIDS post op. I'm guessing it will be a few months out.

I've also been told definitely no to ibuprofen or any NSAIDs.

I just asked my surgeon last Thursday about this because I have had horrible cramps. He told me that anyone with a sleeve can have ibuprofen after 6 weeks post-op. It really helps me, too. And I constantly see conflicting information on OH, so I thought I would just ask my surgeon directly. If I were you, I'd do the same. But that's what mine told me! Good luck!

Nsaids cause ulcers and with your drastically reduced stomach your risk is greatly increased some surgeons so absolutely not (mine told me no find something else for your joint pain) some say in a few weeks/months I'm not sure why it differs

after a month or two it should be fine.. different surgeons have different opinions. nsaids can cause ulcers.. but if your taking a medicine like zantac or prevacid or something of that sort, my surgeon said it's fine.

tylenol doesn't work for me at all.. and i really don't want to take the oxycodonei have left over from post-op everytime i have a headache, so i'm glad my surgeon is okay with nsaids.. lol.

I take every once in a while for a severe headache. Tylenol does not work for me either. I think my surgeon gave a short term band not a lifetime band.

My surgeon says to let the stomach heal for several months and then take them when needed with the emphasis on "needed". I try not to take them more than 1-2 times a month. However, I just had knee surgery, and ibuprofen is all I could take and I've had no problems.
