My surgery is on dec 29th. I am scheduled to come home the next day. I am concerned about being able to move around and take care of myself so quickly. What were your experiences the first few days at home?
Thank you and happy new year

Congrat's on your up-coming surgery!!  I was home the very next day also, and i never needed anyone to help take care of me.  You need to be up and walking at least 10 min out of every hour once home..so i was always getting up to get a drink, etc..on my own.  I did sleep in my recliner for the first week or so, it was just more comfortable to me than laying down in my bed.

Best of Luck!!

I came home late the day after surgery. I had no problem getting about on my own. I was sore, there is no denying that, but I was able to manage - especially witht he liquid pain meds. I made sure to get up and walk about the house every hour and took two walks around the neighborhood (am and pm) each day for the first several days. By about the 4th day, I was sore but could get in and out of bed easily, get out of a chair easily and pretty much resumed regular activity with no heavy lifting, pulling or pushing.
Good luck on your surgery tomorrow.

Best wishes on your surgery!  I did have someone at home with me, but I basically did everything for myself.  I would do as Dawn stated and get up and get my own drinks, or whatever I may have needed and I walked at the hospital and every hour when I returned home and haven't stopped! :)  It really makes you feel better and aids in recovery.
Congrats on getting sleeved...your on your way!
